Councilmembers to Consider Revamped Tourism Marketing District
These audits of city contracts! The contractor picks and pays for the auditor. The city accepts the audit and has no further responsibility. The auditors constitute a sub-scam population. Where will this billion dollars go? We'll never know from an audit.— October 20, 2011 1:44 p.m.
Councilmembers to Consider Revamped Tourism Marketing District
This sounds just like any other Assessment District. You could build a Dr. Seuss theme park for a Billion Dollars. It will all go to $100,000+ salaries.— October 19, 2011 6:36 p.m.
Councilmembers to Consider Revamped Tourism Marketing District
These districts are black holes for money $$$$$ -> ???? The use of the funds is whatever the city approves. The voters are whoever the city designates. And who exactly is the District? These organizations are people. At high salaries. How many people and how many brochuers do you get? Seen it before.— October 19, 2011 4:21 p.m.
Mad About Getting Rid of MAD
What part of "invalid" do these people not understand? The people who voted NO before have changed their minds? No need to have another election, no doubt. That would just complicate the issues. Is this the American Way where the GH CDC knows what the community wants and don't bother following the law? This attitude got the city where it is today with the Golden Hill MAD. The people who profit from it want to keep it going.— October 5, 2011 7:34 p.m.
Court Date Set for SOHO's Suit Against the City
Why is suing the city the only way the people can get the city to look at the legality of what it decides to do?— October 4, 2011 8:40 p.m.
Golden Hill Residents Aren't MAD Anymore
Just so you know exactly what the Court said: " We conclude that the Association's challenge to the vote establishing the District is meritorious and that the trial court correctly ruled that the required engineer's report supporting the District assessments failed to adequately separate general benefits from special benefits as required by article XIII D. Accordingly, we direct the issuance of a writ of mandate vacating the resolution establishing the District and invalidating the assessments levied by the District." Cut and pasted out of the ruling. Some people may not find this to be clear.— September 25, 2011 5:35 p.m.
Golden Hill Residents Aren't MAD Anymore
Property tax bills are out. What? The city is ignoring a Court Ruling? Probably no comment from our city council members. After all, it's a court case, so they can't talk about it.— September 23, 2011 5:06 p.m.
Golden Hill Residents Aren't MAD Anymore
The City of San Diego has its problems with the courts. The city has what seems to be limitless resources to small neighborhood groups. With jobs, families, and bills, the effort to fight city hall seems overwhelming. Congratulations to all who stuck with it - since 2007, and never wavered.— September 22, 2011 8:26 p.m.
O.B. Rag Takes Stand on Publishing Location of Dumanis Fundraiser
The OB Rag didn't "publish" the address - the Dumanis for Mayor site published it. Maybe they were just trying to help Bonnie by getting more people out to her fundraiser.— September 22, 2011 7:10 p.m.
Port to Discuss Vendors Along Bay
While the Port is regulating unicyclists and clowns, also jewelry vendors, how about dilapidated news-stands? I wonder how many Port Commissioners actually go there to look at it.— September 22, 2011 7:29 a.m.
