Mayor Filner accused of caving to "NIMBY" concerns. Stops construction on University Ave
Just to summarize, the city of San Diego has in the past stated that it has no responsibility to notify adjacent property owners or business owners of pending street construction. Sometimes the contractors will notify for reasons of their own. This is not a city requirement. 25th Street in Golden Hil, coming your way soon.— December 23, 2012 9:45 a.m.
Mayor Filner accused of caving to "NIMBY" concerns. Stops construction on University Ave
Please note - the city has NO policy to inform adjacent property owners or business owners about these "street improvement" projects. The first clue is when somebody shows up and starts digging up the street. These projects are not required to go through any required notification process similar to that for development services-approved projects. In Golden Hill, the "Public Outreach" consisted of walking up and down the two block (a $2.5 MILLION project) and telling whoever was behind the counter. Sigh. Sigh over how much money is being spent to paint sharrows on the pavement and change the parking scheme. And how much went to consultants to plan it.— December 21, 2012 12:06 a.m.
Reneging on refunds
Truth and politics. Nobody is even shocked or cares. Which is worse?— December 4, 2012 5:04 a.m.
Filner inaugural roster revealed
Let bygones be bygones. But were there any poor people on the list? (even if we don't know their names).— November 30, 2012 6:53 p.m.
Deep inside the Filner transition
Filner is a history professor. He can look at Julius Caesar to see how this would work out.— November 29, 2012 1:15 p.m.
Audit blasts Sanders for city maintenance meltdown
Flower pots in your heighborhood? Banners? How about the revitalization of 25th Street, a $$ city project to turn 4 lanes into 3 over two blocks, adding a bike lane. Biking is great - but a two block bike path seems inefficient to those that don't understand the big picture. Don't forget - it's all about the big picture.— November 26, 2012 3:01 p.m.
They'll spank you at Babycakes
A delightful place for lunch in nice weather is the Babycakes outpost at the Balboa Park Tennis Courts - Morley Field. The cupcakes of the day are available there, along with lunch, and entertainment from the nearby tennis courts. Ample Parking. I don't play tennis, but do go there to eat.— November 19, 2012 5:50 p.m.

Is the political committee, Conservatives for Gay Rights Supporting Carl DeMaio, a front for an anti-DeMaio group?
"As the race for San Diego mayor heads for the wire, it's getting harder to keep track of which big money players are giving to what causes." -- Reader, October 25. Perhaps nothing is as it is seems to be. Exactly which voters does Sempra Energy represent?— October 28, 2012 8:22 a.m.
Is the political committee, Conservatives for Gay Rights Supporting Carl DeMaio, a front for an anti-DeMaio group?
Please! All these accusations come from the DeMaio Campaign. You present Mr. Filner's purported supporters as unethical, underhanded, and surreptitious. This is unfair to the candidate himself - usually criticized for being outspoken and in-your-face about what he thinks and believes. What are you trying to accomplish here?— October 26, 2012 7:10 p.m.
