Lawsuit coming over City Attorney's refusal to release complete record of Filner and Jones exchange
What actually happened in closed session seems to have two sides, according to some news items. Filner, as Chairman, asked the Deputy District Attorney 6 times to sit down, and he refused. The Chairman then had the right to remove him as disruptive. I believe there are incidents from open City Council meetings where individuals have been removed during public comment for being disruptive, but I do not remember the details.— July 2, 2013 5:28 p.m.
Acquitted on all 13 counts of vandalism, jury says Jeff Olson should be free
This is still a "top ten" story on MSN. Dorian Hargrove and The Reader hit the big time!— July 2, 2013 3:22 p.m.
Acquitted on all 13 counts of vandalism, jury says Jeff Olson should be free
A vote of confidence for the jury system, who understand what was going on in spite of all the squelched evidence. Also, all the commenters who posted detailed data to support the defendant - Dorian has the best commenters anywhere. And congratulations to Dorian for making the national news!— July 1, 2013 6:19 p.m.
Is it the mess or the message? City Attorney has been selective when prosecuting chalk vandalism
Many of us have wanted and worked so that Mayor Filner can make San Diego the city he envisioned. The push-back to that is that every liberal or environmentalist becomes a public enemy to the defenders of the status quo. Now this case is in the hands of the jury, but the information presented to them is limited. Let us hope that somehow the essence of truth is clear to them, representing the validity of the American way of life, with voters, jury trials, and freedoms.— July 1, 2013 1:39 p.m.
City Attorney Jan Goldsmith has a history of prosecuting activists who scribble chalk on public sidewalks
Mr. Goldsmith, it is time to let these chalkers go. Move on to something important. I hear children are setting up lemonade stands in various neighborhoods. Get on it! What else does the city attorney's office do? I thought they offer opinions, and respond to lawsuits against the city. This is the first I ever knew they had time to prosecute cases.— June 28, 2013 8:37 p.m.
Jurors selected, trial begins in case of anti-bank protester

Chalking the plank: Judge won't allow bank protester to claim first amendment rights
Has anyone had their house broken into lately? Please, forget it. The system has more important things to manage. After all, breaking and entering is usually done without malice. The burglar doesn't even know you. So it's OK.— June 25, 2013 5:40 p.m.
He chalks the line: City Attorney prosecutes man for writing anti-bank slogans in water soluble chalk
Above comment meant as a "reply" to rdotinga. We're not all perfect.— June 24, 2013 8:45 p.m.

Not that I get your point, but quotation marks are used for exact quotes, ellipses for omissions when the omitted data is understood in context, and square brackets normally used for additions. Surely you are not so casual with the rules at the Voice. I'm loving it. Please try to be a little more sparing with the exclamation points here at the Reader.— June 24, 2013 8:37 p.m.
He chalks the line: City Attorney prosecutes man for writing anti-bank slogans in water soluble chalk
What is this all about? It is to say this city is not for us, it's for them, and don't forget it.— June 24, 2013 4:45 p.m.
