Meanwhile, USD allegedly awakens rape perps
jnojr, Jane Doe was young, and she was advised by people in authority. But your basic premise is sound - this should be handled through governmental legal processes, not administrative adjudication.— July 17, 2015 10:35 a.m.
Meanwhile, USD allegedly awakens rape perps
Any organization's first reaction to anything is to protect the organization. With no outside oversight, the individual rights must be protected by law. In schools, particularly boarding schools, this does not happen. The school is the law. This needs to change. Students have rights like everybody else.— July 17, 2015 8:10 a.m.
San Diego Metro transit reluctant to give bus passes to inner-city students
How can the City give bus rides to kids when they have the San Diego Chargers to nurture? They can't do it all. Years back, the magnet program provided transportation for kids who went to school across town. I believe that disappeared, along with the magnet program itself, some years ago.— July 15, 2015 1:28 p.m.
Open-door Airbnb in Burlingame
This problem will solve itself. Pretty soon all of the neighborhood will be vacation rentals, and they will complain about residents who take up parking. See Mission Beach for details.— May 7, 2015 6:54 a.m.
City attorney and council call it a surcharge
The people of San Diego have to constantly sue the city, to get the city to obey the law. Usually, it is the government that tries to get the people to obey the law. This money is not spent by the city directly. It is usually given to "non-profits" with no accountability. The city should get back to providing the government for the city honestly and legally.— May 5, 2015 6:26 a.m.
Overweight San Salvador launch sunk
Who weighed it?— April 19, 2015 5:44 p.m.
What kind of racket is Civic San Diego?
These non-profits operate without the constraints imposed on city government by law. They are not required to disclose to the public except through their income tax filings as non-profit. The MADs, BIDs, CDCs, and others operate as they please with "grant" money from the city. It all works perfectly (for them).— April 17, 2015 5:05 p.m.
City attorney slickness no match for First Amendment
Please keep us informed on the final ruling of this very important issue. The power that Jan Goldsmith wields in San Diego should not be underestimated.— March 12, 2015 6:41 p.m.
Media spin and legal drama merge in Briggs battle
Sounds like whoever decided what happened to Filner has decided what will happen to Briggs. Thanks, South Park. That's the message I got.— February 28, 2015 8:35 p.m.
Oh, those troublesome bike lanes
Widening sidewalks usually means extra rent-free space for businesses. Clothing racks, art displays, and dining tables are the norm. Bicycles are the PR bi-product. Traffic is not part of the equation.— February 25, 2015 2:28 p.m.
