Court blesses city attorney's email practice
Was this Jan Goldsmith comment submitted from a private computer, or a city computer? Just curious.— November 3, 2015 2:26 p.m.
HOA tricks, lies, and deceives ... and residents still don't care
The proposed City of San Diego change to the Municipal Code for Maintenance Assessment Districts (MADs) makes provisions for the Owner's Association (or HOA) to directly receive the funds the city collects. This is in addition to already assessed HOA fees.— October 30, 2015 9:11 a.m.
Bill Horn and the life east of the 15
If every San Diego politician with a vested financial interest in a particular vote recused himself/herself, government would come to a standstill. Bill Horn is being singled out as one among many.— October 22, 2015 6:31 p.m.
Mission Valley development machine cranks up
The two developers have allied with the San Diego River Park supporters to establish good environmental credentials and will contribute heavily to the park refurbishment. This is planning ahead, something developers are good at doing.— October 12, 2015 4:50 p.m.
Debate: short-term rentals, good or bad?
It is hard to believe Mr. Passons lives right next door to one, where even the nicest people would think his driveway is the parking space for the fourth car, because there isn't any place else.— October 12, 2015 10:04 a.m.
Debate: short-term rentals, good or bad?
These commenting people sit in their offices and don't live next door to one. The rentals are businesses taking in staggering amounts of money, not friendly neighbors taking in short term room-mates. Hiring a local property manager for out-of-state owners does not solve the problems. Charging TOT does not solve the problems. Flynn is right - it changes the entire meaning of "residential."— October 12, 2015 6:44 a.m.
$250k raised, lifeguard project stopped
Over and over, projects get so far along that they cannot be reasonably interrupted or stopped for public input, and then that fact is the reason they are permitted to continue. The city and the municipal code are not well acquainted. Nobody is asking how this building helps lifeguards save lives. And by the way, how much is it project to cost? When these plans are "run through the plan check again" maybe there will be watchful eyes who compare them to the code requirements.— October 6, 2015 2:05 p.m.
Mission Beach lifeguard station saga continues
It seems that the court has made it difficult for Citizens for Beach Rights to continue - if they do not prevail, they may be held responsible for $1403 per day in costs from the contractor. Even though the case seems clear cut, the city has a lot of resources. Nothing is a sure thing for this case - the obvious does not always prevail.— September 22, 2015 9:19 a.m.
The tragedy of the Starlight Bowl
I loved the shows and the way the actors and singers would stop-time with their mouths open when a plane flew overhead. It was all part of the fun. It doesn't all have to be plastic, convention-ready to be used. It can actually be enjoyed by the people of San Diego. Oh, wait, who cares about that any more? We were never America's fun city. Only the finest.— September 18, 2015 4:13 p.m.
What's next for Union-Tribune real estate?
Somehow I cannot see the city council ruling against the developers, whoever they may be. What is the next step after that? I don't go to Mission Valley/Fashion Valley much anymore because of the traffic gridlock.— September 12, 2015 7:46 a.m.
