Book Nerd Nirvana
Thanks MsGrant. My mother did the same thing with me -- the library was kind of an unofficial babysitter.— November 13, 2010 10:19 a.m.
Book Nerd Nirvana
I agree with you rickeysays. Libraries today are more like community centers than places for quiet reading. And thanks Nan for your kind words.— November 11, 2010 9:31 p.m.
San Diego Copper Chimney Food Truck
Ed, I just love your Tin Fork column and the whole concept behind it. This sounds like another great discovery.— November 11, 2010 6:36 p.m.
Packing Heat (and Granola)
Congrats on the win!— November 11, 2010 6:31 p.m.
Redefining My Birthday
Congrats on the win! Hope you write some more.— November 11, 2010 6:30 p.m.
So Long
I've been reading Duncan Shepherd's reviews for the last twenty-five years, and I've always been floored by the sheer quality of his prose. He's a first-class critic, and San Diego is losing a local treasure. I wish him the best in whatever he does in the future, and I hope it involves writing.— November 11, 2010 6:22 p.m.
Change of plans to minister to a laid off friend
I think networking really is the key. Unless you have stellar qualifications, I think your resume will get lost in the pile. My office recently had an advertised opening for a clerical position, and we received an avalanche of applications. A lot of people are looking for work out there.— October 29, 2010 11:19 a.m.
Hell-For-Sure Pass
Wow, there's some absolutely fantastic writing here. Not to mention a ton of laugh-out-loud moments. You have a real gift, skipcarufel. If you ever write a book, I'll be first in line to buy it.— October 29, 2010 11:11 a.m.
Random Observations during an Eight-Minute Trolley Ride
Totally agree with you LPR!— October 1, 2010 3:29 p.m.
back at the ranch
What a well-written story. Still, at the age of 23, you're still just a kid -- no shame in living with Mom and Dad. Especially during this economy...— September 30, 2010 9:32 a.m.
