Cutting in Line
I think that here in the UK, line jumping is way worse than it was there. People are always having numerous friends join them in line, including at amusement parks. Plus, when a checkout at a store opens a new cash register, it's never 'next in line', it's always whoever gets to it first, which is often the very last people in line, annoying that!— July 2, 2009 2:48 p.m.
Escorts & Engagements
I've lived in the UK for the last 8 years, and I've never seen topless women on beaches. Just in tabloid magazines on page 3 or your regular mens mags. And, in the UK at least, it has nothing to do that people are more comfortable with their bodies, it's just incredibly more sexist here, than in Ca. at least. Females here sleep around about as much a guys, but aren't so much labeled with the slut term if they do. But most people when they go out, go out to get absolutely hammered, so many don't really remember and if they do, it's not something you're supposed to talk about much apparently. British men have made me appreciate American men, though I guess I could say non-redneck type sorry LOL. As for sex, I often have had a higher sex drive than my bf's. But that might be because I never sleep around in between bf's so am making up for lost time haha. I prefer personality way more than money or looks. I actually don't usually trust people who seem 'too' successful or are very attractive, not sure why. Though I would prefer someone who worked and liked to work over someone who's lazy LOL But I like to be able to support myself and not depend on someone, so it's not because I want them to work to support me. So I don't know how that fits in with all the gender stuff. Oh, and you get used to seeing guys in speedos and the pools and beaches. I think American guys are just raised to be more modest for some reason. Leave it to Beaver kind of thing I suppose LOL— March 19, 2009 11:33 a.m.
Kebob Invasion
Kebab shops are great. I've been living in the UK for 8 years and I love them. I live in a very small, touristy village, but still have a kebab shop and a few fish-n-chip shops. But, I do miss taco stands! Oh for a Robertos or La Posta! Don't even have Taco Bells here. Tortillas aren't the same as what they use, but works as well and are sometimes nicer as if you get the proper flat bread or pitas, sometimes they're a bit dry. I hope it does well, it should! Gyros are differently seasoned, but are similar. Greece and Turkey aren't so far away from each other after all.— February 20, 2009 3:13 p.m.
Downtown San Diego condos – kinda like roller coasters
Anyone with kids in downtown would be transporting their kids to private schools anyway. They surely won't send them to public ones there. There are surely not load of dopers compared to how it used to be. Friends used to hold gigs in Croce's basement in the mid 80's, when Croce's was the only place there. Now there were dopers then! Or even round '90 when we used to track from 5th ave down to, oh was it 9th and G St? to go to Java, now there were really dopers!— February 3, 2009 11:11 a.m.
