Rope-a-Dope?
carousels as a "life lesson" tool, interesting...complex real-world problems identified with a simple childhood memory. the same circles, the same animals, the same music - never changes, no matter how many times you ride it. only true change in life is when you step off it, and only then can you go get ice cream. thanks!— May 26, 2011 3:44 p.m.
Fun Football Stories
Hey PPete? when you tell the fans ahead of time that you're jumping into the stands, and then you catch a touchdown, and then leap into the forewarned fans, you're having fun. he called his shot, and took it. even went so far as to meet the fans before the game so he knew where he was headed! sounds like the guy is having fun to me. and every fan in the league could make a cause for their hometeam and it being special - let's not forget the 'dawg pound' in cleveland, the sea of red in arrowhead, etc. will green bay always have a special place in the hearts of true football fans? of course it will - same as riverfront stadium will for a guy who saw his first nfl game there. it's all in your take on life. as for favre / rodgers, i'd like to see an answer to that one too. seems to me that the franchise did rodgers a favor by casting their hopes on him as the future and letting brett go. doesn't sound like BF hurt rodgers at all. if brett gave the big salami to anyone, it would have been TJackson and the minnesota vikings. they work all off-season and training camp with the two qb's on the team, then brett strolls in at the last minute to take the starting job? i'd be pissed! then again...it's hard to argue with 2-0 to start a season, so maybe they should enjoy the ride for a while...— September 23, 2009 2:08 p.m.
Cabs vs. Coach
hey PP, i can think of worse things to give yourself for christmas than a trip to hawaii! maybe i'll punish myself with that bahamas trip i've been thinking about!— September 23, 2009 8:21 a.m.
Driving Pet Peeves
let us not forget: - the dangling testicles from the "man-trucks" - political bumpers stickers (mondale/ferraro? time to change the bumper) - for sale signes in windown chalk on every exposed glass area!— September 19, 2009 9:28 a.m.
Bullies and Bus Drivers
i couldn't tell you the problems i had with school bus drivers and their lack of action taken against students. my daughters were always the 'new kids' at the school, therefore the targets of opportunity for adolescent boys. sorry for your son, been there and done that.— September 16, 2009 8:46 a.m.
Idiotic Athletes -- The Michael Jordan and Serena Williams Editions
josh, sorry to hear that things got THAT hot. i know that things were heated early on in the thread, but i didn't follow up on it after the first couple days. hope that you don't catch anymore flack over the incident. maybe someone will have a copy of it that i can get from them. if not, then let's hope that cooler heads prevail on the next ride before someone really gets hurt...— September 15, 2009 9:37 p.m.
Idiotic Athletes -- The Michael Jordan and Serena Williams Editions
josh, unrelated note: i went to go back and reread the whole "critical mass" blog as the monthly ride comes around, but couldn't find it. i might be missing it, but if I'm to try and reason with the masses, or even present a semi-educated car-driver point of view, i'd love a copy of that so that i can present the "do it right" speech. help?— September 15, 2009 2:56 p.m.
No Bailout For Animals
my wife won't allow me to visit the shelters - i always come home with another pet! i'm a sucker for an older dog that had a good life before and want to give it the best life i can...— September 8, 2009 8:32 a.m.
San Diego Stupid Chargers -- The Tila Tequilla Edition
IMO...it doesn't matter what the outcome of this whole merriman/tequila affair is. what is important is that if you are the "face of the team", you don't put yourself in a position to be open to these problems. as an athlete making the kind of money that he does, he needs to be more responsible for his actions. believe me, after 24 years on active duty in the military, if you tell me i'll get that kind of money (or even 1/4 of it), then i'm a freaking boy scout for life!— September 7, 2009 8:15 p.m.
Football Hero and Football Zero
love stories of young kids doing good things for a change. keep them coming! as for the chula vista kids, i hope this moment in the sun lasts their entire lives, they played hard, they played clean, and they had me yelling at my tv every game!— September 4, 2009 11:56 p.m.
