Mexico: Keep that s*** out of the Tijuana River
Thanks for the update! Really appreciate your insight.— August 15, 2017 6:33 p.m.
Immigration lawyers grilled in Sherman Heights
My family too - including the ancestors who were shipped over as British prisoners (debtors) to work tobacco farms in Virginia.— July 13, 2017 12:27 p.m.
Humane Society takes over from San Diego County
David Lagstein contacted me because he was concerned that his rushed comments during a short phone interview mischaracterized the county's policies and problems. He said that he meant to say that management policies were the problem, not that the county had policies that were implemented incorrectly. It is a fine distinction that suggests the problems rest with the policy-makers and not the employees. I agreed to clarify that this is what he meant to say.— July 1, 2017 4:27 p.m.
I.B. ready to sue
Visduh, the problem is that the population of Tijuana has more than doubled, from about 800,000 in 1990 to more than 1.7 million now - including more than 100,000 U.S. citizens. (I've seen counts as high as 400,000. It's hard to find reliable numbers.) The infrastructure hasn't kept up.— June 29, 2017 11:04 a.m.
I.B. ready to sue
Ponzi, (It was not in the story but) the last sentence Serge said in this long quote is "our president has abandoned us." It's in the previous story. I'd have to guess that the president was never 'with' Wildcoast, Surfrider or the city of IB, which, for a few minutes, was a Welcoming City. http://www.cbs8.com/story/33154780/backlash-again…— June 22, 2017 2:54 p.m.
South Bay as dumping ground
Vivian did tell me she works for CCman Alvarez - in case the ID she wore in plain sight wasn't enough. But she spoke as a resident.I understood her position to be entirely ethical. (I hope one day someone - anyone - tells me they are a do-nothing. Almost all people tell me they're doing a lot, and doing it well.)— June 18, 2017 5:13 p.m.
"Let's have them do it in La Jolla next year...."
I live on the route. This outfit does a spectacular job of notifying the neighborhood along the route; probably five rounds of door hanger notices in bright red and bold print starting a month before the race and the last round the day before. 'No parking' a-frame signs along the route with the race date and time every 20 feet for five or six days before. I'm sure the church is made aware of what's coming as early as we are. They cleaned up thoroughly and packed out before noon. Maybe the church could run shuttles for the day? I bet MTS could do that for seniors and disabled people. It's fun being along the route even if it is early morning. Like the other local events that affect our convenience - the Adams Avenue music events twice a year, for example - we get a lot out these events in exchange for minor inconvenience - including our reputation as a cool neighborhood.— June 9, 2017 1:05 p.m.
May 24 Tijuana sewage, on top of Feb. dump, spurs coalition

Butt out, Clairemont, says Linda Vista
Linda Vista, likewise, expressed respect for the Clairemont group. Sorry about the headline - we don't write them.— April 7, 2017 12:12 p.m.
La Jolla Shores neighbors propose gating new development, worry about drainage
Second to last paragraph: Although the project was presented to the La Jolla Community Permit Review Committee with houses drawn on each lot — 'similar but different' by design, it's the eight lots that are for sale, and the houses will be designed with the new owners involved — and will have to be approved by the planning committee.— April 7, 2017 11:55 a.m.
