Grand Canyon in the winter – best time to visit?
I've been to the Grand Canyon in the winter and it is beautiful and surreal. Seeing it in this quieter tone, with snow lining the canyon it's an refreshing sight. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Digital detox in Julian
Robert, it's a really really hard thing to do these days, unless it's forced due to do service available, then it takes people a while to adjust to no connection. This happened to me in Yosemite, and my family loved it! They are always on me about using my phones. Amazing conversations and interaction happen when cell phones are not connected or allowed. Let's meet for dinner but cell phones must stay in the car so when they go reach for them they aren't there. I've heard of some restaurants that take your cell phones at the door and would LOVE to hear about that if anyone knows of one? This might turn some diners away, but I'm guessing most who go, know this rule and might be there because of this rule.

neighborhoods/carlsbad -- Carlsbad
Carlsbad Village Faire Today I was a very brave person. Despite my inner voice telling me to stay home, give my busy self a relaxing day for a change, I put the lease on my dog and we headed out for the Carlsbad Village Faire. Where else can you walk a crowd of more than 100,000 with a propaganda sign in your hand and not be arrested or accosted? I left my signs and home, had to walk with my dog in my arms much of the way, but survived a day at the massive Carlsbad Village Faire, the largest single day street fair in the nation. Visited by more than 100,000 people who crave crowds, the streets are packed elbow to elbow from 8 to 5 rain or shine. For 40 years now they keep coming, some new and unsuspecting folks, and some that have been coming for 40 years. "I didn't know it was this big," and "Where does this thing end?" are comments I heard frequently while pushing my way through the streets. Despite the crowds, most of my friends go to the street fair. I used to man the Carlsbad Gourmet booth with my family but now just walk amongst the crowd in search of something new, stopping to say hello to friends I see all along the way, and stopping for a beer at either O'Sullivan's, Hennessey's, or Coyote giving me the chance to go to the bathroom in a real bathroom.

neighborhoods/carlsbad -- Carlsbad
Carlsbad's history is in its soil. Yes, the alkaline water is what founded Carlsbad, but Carlsbad's character runs deep in the dirt. Formerly full of agricultural lands, the city has been overtaken by development both business and residential. Now with Legoland California, golf club manufacturers, biotech industry including billion dollar Life Technologies, the essence of Carlsbad's history can be experienced by visiting [The Flower Fields][1] , [the U Pick It Strawberry fields][2] [1]:

by just driving through the neighborhoods, or taking the I-5 off-ramp at Canon Road exit, blanketed with purple ground cover beauty.

neighborhoods/carlsbad -- Carlsbad
Carlsbad High School's award winning Live Daily Broadcast crew CHSTV has created a film "Steering Teens Straight" film to bring awareness to the consequences of teens drinking and driving. This particular film project is lead by Carlsbad High School student Hannah Evans. The teaser to this four part series can be seen at [CHSTV][1] [1]:

Oregon's Multnomah Falls
I love waterfalls in general, the surreal feeling from the sound and beauty. Do you have any favorite not to be missed waterfall adventures? I'm headed to Maui soon, so hope to take in a few good ones there

Grand Canyon in the winter – best time to visit?
I've been to the Grand Canyon in the winter and it is beautiful and surreal. Seeing it in this quieter tone, with snow lining the canyon it's an refreshing sight. Thanks for sharing your experience!— February 20, 2015 8:31 a.m.
This might turn some diners away, but I'm guessing most who go, know this rule and might be there because of this rule.— April 21, 2014 3:41 p.m.

I used to man the Carlsbad Gourmet booth with my family but now just walk amongst the crowd in search of something new, stopping to say hello to friends I see all along the way, and stopping for a beer at either O'Sullivan's, Hennessey's, or Coyote giving me the chance to go to the bathroom in a real bathroom. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/may/1…— May 10, 2013 1:40 p.m.

Carlsbad's history is in its soil. Yes, the alkaline water is what founded Carlsbad, but Carlsbad's character runs deep in the dirt. Formerly full of agricultural lands, the city has been overtaken by development both business and residential. Now with Legoland California, golf club manufacturers, biotech industry including billion dollar Life Technologies, the essence of Carlsbad's history can be experienced by visiting [The Flower Fields][1] , [the U Pick It Strawberry fields][2] [1]: http://www.theflowerfields.com/ [2]: http://www.carlsbadstrawberrycompany.com/upick_st… by just driving through the neighborhoods, or taking the I-5 off-ramp at Canon Road exit, blanketed with purple ground cover beauty. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/may/0…— May 7, 2013 8:15 a.m.

Oregon's Multnomah Falls
I love waterfalls in general, the surreal feeling from the sound and beauty. Do you have any favorite not to be missed waterfall adventures? I'm headed to Maui soon, so hope to take in a few good ones there— April 23, 2013 12:15 p.m.
