Talk radio Kevin Kline has Coronado Bridge problem

Entercom had a golden opportunity Thursday morning. They had everyone listening to see what this guy Klein was going to say and they choked. They not only pulled him from his highly publicized debut, but they said nothing about it that day or the next, out of fear of what the Padres will think. When the Padres already hate Entercom. The pooch is screwed as they say. =While some say the Padres may have overreacted a bit, the fact is they hated this JUMP tweet so much that they publicly say they want to JUMP out of Entercom. =The Padres publicly said they want nothing to do with Dan Sileo whose 10 am-2 pm show had him immediately on before the first Pads game and the Padres clearly don't want this guy rammed down their throat five days a week. = The Padres play by play was moved from 94.9 to 97.3 which has an inferior signal and misses parts of North County. The Padres never signed off on it and they are not happy with the fact happened and that they were not told about it in advace. = The Padres five year deal with Entercom was put together by Mike Dee who fired by the Padres immediately after the deal was made and who now works for Entercom. Hmmmmmm.... Face it, the Padres/Entercom deal is one huge dumpster fire. It is going away. They could have just chalked it up as a mistake and used the publicity to launch a new morning show. As it is now, it looks like they won't have either the Pades or the new morning show. But they do have Dan Sileo who failed miserably at 1090 and an afternoon show from Seattle. I hope Bob Bollinger and Kevin Callahan have good 401K's.

The Machine spits out 97-3 DJs

This is a genius, locally produced podcast that brilliantly lampoons the Machine. 97-3 The Machine will never ever matter is because it will rely on a lazy pantload caricature like Dan Sileo as their only local host but will never bother with a true radio talent like this guy. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-kept-fait… There truly is some value with a station that is breaking the radio mold as 97-3 is doing. When they say there is no one else in the country doing a station like 973 The Machine, they are correct. But if you only rely on out of town talk shows like the Mens Room, Ozzy oldies, a small library of comedy bits and Sileo who was in 20th place among men 25-54 when he was at 1090 in the mornings, this effort is stillborn, right out of the shoot. iHeart is about to go bankrupt. Let's see what happens when real radio people can regain control of the local airwaves. San Diego isn't sleepy anymore. Yet Dan Sileo is the laziest, sleepiest, cheapest hack you could ask for to launch your new broadcast beachhead in America's Finest City. This podcast magnificently parodies Sileo's worthlessness.

Interesting comment from T.E Bannan. This is how one person I spoke with this morning responded: "He's basically saying to just throw anything against the wall and see if it sticks. Let's just hope for the best. Why do we even have general plans or planning staffs or planning commissions? Why do we even bother with historic designations? The RPG 2822 entity is part of the RAF Pacifica Group based in Encinitas that is responsible for the recent $24-million acquisition of the 39.000 sq. ft. Pacific Station in Encinitas. RAF says it specializes in refurbishing industrial buildings, and so has been responsible with 2.65-million sq. ft. of commercial property worth $350-million.

Don- Just don't think your correlation that because some Chargers stopped going, that made more fans want to fly in from Buffalo because the tickets were a little cheaper. Who came up with that economic theory? How about this: There were almost as many Raiders fans than Chargers fans at Qualcomm games because the Raiders were almost as popular as popular as the Chargers.

Hey Don- It must feel good to know that you were right all along about the value of Chargers on the local tourist economy. Congratulations. But I have some questions about this article. You write: "There were a few exceptions: Los Angelenos who came down to watch the Dodgers play, got drunk, and stayed overnight."...Is this quantifiable based on data or just something you came up with? If it is real data please share. I'd like to know what the difference is between football fans who get drunk and stay overnight is between those who just stay overnight. You also write: "That’s because 2016 numbers were artificially inflated because of those out-of-towners taking advantage of local hostility against the Chargers." Really? How does that work? Does that mean the Chargers fans getting unhappy with Spanos encouraged more people to fly in who supported opposing teams? Please explain and please tell us what data you reference. I may just too slow to follow. Also, I'm sure you must know that the UT opinion page you reference has radically changed in the last year (just like Issa's district, for instance), and that it reads nothing like it did during the decades you were there. The fact that they want to point out life is just as good or better without the Chargers reflects both their tilting leftward and the fact they want to rah-rah contemporary San Diego, I would assume.

Will Tegna drain the KFMB talent pool?

Especially considering other local TV stations mentioned the KFMB sale on their news. They could have spun it any way they want, saying as little as they wanted. Channel 8 News went on and on when they took over the CW channel from XETV earlier this year. Nothing wrong with that: it was news. They must be so terrified of Tegna since its impacting their news delivery.
