Art history, Korean beef at The Prado

My great great aunt was good friends with Hord. My brother grew up with his grandsons. My great aunt was an important local early plein air artist. It was such an interesting time in the local art world one hundred years ago. It was the backdrop for everything in San Diego.

Mary's Donuts in Santee got a little too generous

Scalzitti wasn't just a long-time customer, he worked at the shop. He was close to Mary and her family as I recall. I interviewed him while he was working at the shop for the article in 2016. Jacobs is termed out next year I think. Soon they'll have the newest board they've had in years. Fletcher is likely positioning himself to shake things up. He has aspirations for higher offices, he's going to make some noise. Gaspar can't seem to wait to get out of there, it's like a pit stop for her it seems.

New North Park Target starts debate on grab-and-dashes

It would be interesting to know what each stores policies are and why. Recently I talked to a cashier at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and he told me that people steal all sorts of weird things. He said one of the weirdest was when he worked at a grocery store and a man stole from the meat department. He stuffed his pants and under his shirt and coat like he was a drug mule. When they caught him steaks flew everywhere.

There seems to be a bit of reefer madness when it comes to dispensaries and especially with grow facilities. Though last Mother's Day we took my mom to a dispensary and it was packed with moms and grandmas. Times are changing for sure. I don't partake myself but lots of people like my mom have tried it now that it's legal, though just the CBD edibles. Sort of humorous considering my mom poured pancake batter on my brothers pot plants when he was a teen when she found them.

Constant issue at Rite Aid. I've seen teens fill a cart with booze and nonchalantly jet. A cashier told me they have been told to not stop them. Though I've seen store managers racing like the wind after senior citizens that lifted something tiny or a homeless person that lifted something. So not sure what the actual policy is.

Downtown San Diego's Plaza Hotel goes; homeless parking proposed on Mission Bay

That's possible. One thing we do know is that no developer is going to build parking if they don't have to since it costs so darn much. I was told by someone in-the-know that just painting a line in the street (or removing a parking lot from the street for bike lanes) is equivalent to $20K. Parking garages are about $30K a space and underground parking garages about $40K per space. But you may be on to something. Hi-rise parking garages may be the key to making things work. Years ago, La Jolla put one in and it was a game-changer. It allowed everyone to know if they were working in the heart of La Jolla or visiting to shop that they would find parking.
