It's about time the DA's office did something about all the alleged corruption at Sweetwater Union High School District and Southwestern College. I'm wondering why Cartmill and McCann are getting a pass on this. Maybe if they keep "following the money", there will be more to come. Of all the board members, they seem to be the sleaziest. SurfPuppy, I'm not sure it'll work, but try the above link above.

Chula Vista seeks university of its own
Harvard? Notre Dame? Get serious McCann! That's almost as ridiculous as thinking that taxpayers would approve another bond proposal with so many officials on the take. Time to clean house.— December 28, 2011 12:15 p.m.
Sweetwater Union High School District Boardmembers' Homes Raided
Visduh: On this point I agree with Redevil. This corruption has nothing to do with race or nationality. Let's not divide ourselves in our fight against greed and corruption.— December 23, 2011 3:18 p.m.
The Heat Rises for Sweetwater Union High School District Trustees and Associates
Could it be that John Wilson was "working" for Seville even before he left Southwestern in 2009. Maybe the wheels of justice turn slowly, and they probably should, but it seems so long ago that the Reader revealed all of the corruption related to Proposition monies at Southwestern. Let's hope justice prevails, and everyone involved, not just a token few, are made to pay for their crimes.— December 23, 2011 3:10 p.m.
Sweetwater Union High School District Boardmembers' Homes Raided
Curious2: That corruption is corruption regardless of political party affiliation is absolutely true. However, since both the Republican and Democratic Parties endorsed candidates in Sweetwater, it's pretty hard to see their positions as non-partisan. As redevilaboveground suggests, "keep your eyes open"! Some feel that this wouldn't be the first time the DA's (Republican) office was used to sway political opinion.— December 21, 2011 4:47 p.m.

Sweetwater Union High School District Board Refuses to Consider Campaign Cash Cap
It really shouldn't shock anyone that McCann, Cartmill, and Ricasa would oppose limiting campaign contributions. What is surprising is that neither Lopez nor Quinones gave Ms Stubbs' resolution even token discussion. What could have silenced them? Well, according to the audio tape and sign-on-san diego, this wasn't last night's only bombshell. Sweetwater's conversion to district voting was stopped dead on its fast track, aiding Lopez and Quinones in their upcoming bids for re-election. Later, behind closed doors, Dr. Brand was given the permanent position he's sought all along. This reeks of the same wheeling and dealing we're used to in the political swamp called Sweetwater.— December 13, 2011 4:25 p.m.
Victors Write Chula Vista's History? Politicians Do
The last paragraph of this article says it all. Investors, developers, and shakers and movers in general paid for this book just like they bought the politicians who held the door open for them to come in and reap huge profits in Chula Vista. I would like to see Mr. Danciu's version of this city's history. It sounds more like the peoples' history of Chula Vista, rather than these fat cats' road to riches.— December 7, 2011 5:23 p.m.
Good Old Boys’ Club Exposed at Sweetwater Union High School District Meeting?
Anniej: You're absolutely right. It doesn't make sense that they would want to create such suspicion, especially when they're supposedly trying to create a new atmosphere of trust and transparency. Something smells here. Has any board member asked for this to be agendized? Has Bertha Lopez? If not, maybe she will. She's come through in the past.— December 4, 2011 4:13 p.m.
Good Old Boys’ Club Exposed at Sweetwater Union High School District Meeting?
This is just like when they hired "good old boy" Mr. Vega to investigate possible election tampering. By the way, why hasn't the board voted to let the public see that report? We paid for it and we have the right to see it. The board simply has to vote to release it.— December 2, 2011 9:54 p.m.
Sweetwater Union High School Board Prompted for Report on Scott Alevy's Work
I don't know if anyone's seen the movie "Groundhog Day", in which a reporter (Bill Murray) on assignment to cover Groundhog Day events in Punxsutawny Pennsylvania, finds himself repeating the same day over and over. This seems to be the case in the Sweetwater School District-new day, same old story. While the film is a highly ranked comedy, what's happening in Sweetwater doesn't have the taxpayers laughing. Isn't the Vega report the property of the public? We, through our school board representative (Mr. McCann), ordered the report, paid for it, and received it (in care of our school board). Now we're told we can't know what's in it?! Totally unacceptable! The Sweetwater Board must vote to release this report ASAP!— November 18, 2011 10:02 a.m.
