More Corruption Charges in South Bay
ANNIEJ FOR SCHOOL BOARD!— March 26, 2012 10:06 p.m.
Sweetwater Contractor Plea Bargains in Corruption Case
The Reader began publishing stories about all of this two years ago, and it is good to finally see something happening about it. It's going to be very interesting to see how everything plays out.— March 21, 2012 8:28 p.m.
Homes of Former Southwestern Trustees Searched
anniej: Canary is a nice way of putting it, however, swamp creatures don't sing, they just sort of gush.— March 20, 2012 9:07 p.m.
Southwestern College Votes for Pay Increases and Campaign Donation Cap
How many vice presidents does it take to run a community college?— March 19, 2012 6:22 p.m.
Southwestern College Votes for Pay Increases and Campaign Donation Cap
Woodchuck: I couldn't agree with you more. To pay a PR person that much at the same time you're cutting at the classroom level is grossly wrong. Administration is the furthest removed from classroom instruction, but they get the raises. Doesn't make sense.— March 17, 2012 8:03 p.m.
Southwestern College Votes for Pay Increases and Campaign Donation Cap
Raising VP's salaries "..is likely to result in improved rate of retention". Really! It seems to me that the problem with retaining administrators at this college has more to do with its history of corruption than its pay scale. Also, it's hard to believe they hired Lillian Leopold, the spin master who faithfully served the infamous superintendent Jesus Gandara in Sweetwater!— March 17, 2012 8:52 a.m.
Sweetwater Union to Send Pink Slips
Something is really wrong with this guy. If he really had a family emergency why didn't he just say so instead of just ditching and showing disrespect for the public the way he did? It sounds like the teachers union has been willing to work with the district to avoid layoffs. Why the hard line from those three? It's time to clean house.— March 14, 2012 9:53 a.m.
Reforms in Progress at Southwestern College
Sweetwater school board members should follow Southwestern's example and give back the money they received from the likes of Dan Hom and the contractors who contributed to their campaigns and gifted them in a variety of ways. Then they should vote to severely limit campaign contributions in the future. Let's hope Mr. Peraza's motion passes.— March 6, 2012 11:24 a.m.
Another Gandara Makes the News
The recently indicted Jesus Gandara, from the Sweetwater school district, should be our main concern here in San Diego County. After reading "A Shocking View into Former Sweetwater Superintendent Dr. Gandara's Past", published in the Reader Feb. 6, 2012, you have to wonder how the $30,000 search team and the two school board members Arlie Ricassa and Jim Cartmill, who actually travelled to Texas, got it so wrong. His working relationship with another ex-Sweetwater superintendent, Anthony Trujillo should have raised some serious questions.— March 5, 2012 9:40 a.m.
Another Gandara Makes the News
LaLucha: Seriously, which Gandara do you mean?— March 4, 2012 7 p.m.
