Local Coastal Commission Meeting Won't Address Chula Vista Bayfront Plan
Usually, meetings of government agencies that are required to hear public input are scheduled when average working citizens are able to attend. Most of the people who will attend this meeting of the Coastal Commission will be business people with flexible schedules and business interests. For Pacifica Companies to recruit them to pose before the commission is unfair to say the least, and in my opinion a pretty sleazy move by Pacifica Companies. People can disagree, but to put forth a false impression of what Chula Vistans want their park at the bay to look like, does democracy a real disservice.— July 10, 2012 2:43 p.m.
Court Dates Approach for Gandara Family Members
eastlaker: It really is bothersome that no one on any civic council, board, committee, or any office holder in Chula Vista has come out and voiced an opinion, called for action, or at least called for an investigation into what has been going on in their high school district. How can you be an elected leader in your community and not advocate in their behalf?— July 6, 2012 6:20 p.m.
It's a Small World After All...Another Gandara, the Same GCR
There have been a lot of raids, investigations, allegations, indictments, etc.,etc.,etc., in both Texas and here in San Diego. WHEN is somebody finally going to be tried? It seems like it's taking forever.— July 3, 2012 11:36 a.m.
Toxic Dirt Trucked to Southwest High School?
The article quotes Dr. Brand, Interim Superintendent: "I can’t tell you specifically where it came from. I believe it was a group of volunteers that brought the dirt in.” For $20,000 dollars a month, the taxpayers deserve a better answer than that. Then, Brand's assistant tells the Prop O committee something entirely different. Shouldn't Brand and Russo be talking to each other? Hopefully no one is harmed by this toxic dump, and if someone sues, it will be another in the list of the many shameful ways this district has wasted money that should've been spent on educating students. By the way, that cheap plastic wrap just doesn't seem to convince. Well, at least it's the one and probably the only transparent thing we have in this district.— June 27, 2012 3:37 p.m.
Has the Lincoln Club Lost Sway in the South Bay?
"We believed that Bensoussan cared about the community only later to find out that Bensoussan only cared about Bensoussan, her campaign debts, and re-election. Four years ago we endorsed Pamela Bensoussan for Chula Vista City Council. Over the years we have grown to regret that endorsement. The person we met before the election, the candidate we endorsed, was not the person that became a council person!" [La Prensa, May 11, 2012] This is more likely the reason why Ms. Bensoussan lost in the primary. Those that she fooled last time around aren't going to forget, and Mr. Malcom's anti-union, pro-Republican Lincoln Club's deep pockets are going to have a hard time convincing the voters to repeat their mistake.— June 26, 2012 11:50 a.m.
Sweetwater Union HS District Board Meeting Skips Public Comment
"Our hope is that by coming to the community in a spirit of good will and openness, we will usher in a new era of collaboration and communication." -Ed Brand, Superintendent's column, June 2011. Failing to **lead** the district in this new direction and unwilling to **follow** the wishes of the public, Dr. Brand should take his own advice and **get out of the way. **Sweetwater really needs a breath of fresh air. The search for a new superintendent, and I mean fresh, not another local administrator with potential ties to anyone, should begin **now.**— June 16, 2012 8:27 a.m.
Sweetwater Union HS District Board Meeting Skips Public Comment
matyadato: As I wrote earlier, I believe you can bring your request to place campaign contribution limitations to the next board meeting, and they will have to put it on the agenda. Their new policy states that they don't have to agendize items that have been considered within a twelve month period. The way I read it, the clock starts now and since it has not been agendized nor considered since the new policy was adopted, they should have to place it on the agenda. Am I missing something here? What do you think?— June 14, 2012 8 p.m.
Sweetwater Union HS District Board Meeting Skips Public Comment
Good points Greenville. And how would Ed Brand-the-teacher's email to a parent/community member like the one Ms Adato received, have been looked upon by his supervisors? My guess is his personnel file would contain a severe reprimand including a strong directive to never repeat such an unprofessional act. If Interim-superintendent-consultant-Brand doesn't hear from the school board about his totally unacceptable, unprofessional behavior and attitude towards Ms Adato, then we, the public, have been collectively slapped in the face with the board's approval.— June 14, 2012 9:08 a.m.
Sweetwater Union HS District Board Meeting Skips Public Comment
Mr. Brand is saying that Ms Adato's campaign limitation proposal cannot be considered because of the restrictive policy adopted that evening. Shouldn't the new policy begin that evening and not be retroactive?— June 13, 2012 10:21 p.m.
Will Reduced Tolls Increase South Bay Expressway Riders?
Why would anyone want to pay to get to somewhere that they can get to by the FREEway?— June 13, 2012 5:53 p.m.
