Former Charger Seeks Seat on Sweetwater Schools Board
timtim's argument that the offensive quotes from Burt Grossman's book should be excused since they were made years ago might hold a little water if Grossman would have apologized to all that he had offended and disavowed the quotes . We must conclude that this man's small mind hasn't grown one bit. Of course superintendent Brand would love having him on board. Small brains are easier to manipulate. It's why we need Ms Lopez to continue questioning.— November 5, 2012 6:24 p.m.
Former Charger Seeks Seat on Sweetwater Schools Board
timtim: You sound a lot like Burt Grossman with your name calling. You use words like "losers" instead of "wackos" when referring to people who are trying to make their school district better. Different words - same mentality. I did read the piece in LaPrensa. While they did take Bertha Lopez to task, you forgot to mention this part: ["Bertha needs to go, but we are not sure Grossman is the right man for the position. We have talked with Grossman and he is extremely likable, it just seems that he did not put enough thought into what it is to campaign or even why he ran."] LaPrensa Oct. 12,2012— November 4, 2012 10:16 a.m.
Former Charger Seeks Seat on Sweetwater Schools Board
So, Mr. Grossman thinks that parents demanding equality between genders are "wackos". Hasn't he heard of Title IX? Sweetwater has already been found in violation of gender discrimination regarding sports, and his attitude is exactly what the district doesn't need. Aside from the disturbing quotes in his book, cvres and Visduh are right, if he's Brand's choice, then that says enough...DON'T VOTE FOR HIM!— November 3, 2012 4:25 p.m.
Chula Vista chamber of commerce PAC gets money from supervisor Cox
So, county supervisor Cox gives $20,000 (of taxpayer money) to help fund the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce. Then, the Chamber financially supports his wife's lap dog city council partner Pamela Bensoussan in her bid for reelection, as well as aiding the defeat of Prop B which would further democratize the way we elect our city officials. How much more corrupt can it get?— October 31, 2012 5:16 p.m.
Chula Vista Ethics Meeting Draws Mayor and Three Police
The motivation of these Lake Pointe developers is obvious. When is the last time they, or their family members got involved financially or otherwise in Chula Vista's politics? Give us a break! Hopefully they will see that we're not stupid at all when we cast our votes in November.— October 29, 2012 8:42 a.m.
Chula Vista council votes with hoteliers to scrap Tourism Marketing District
So, supervisor Cox used $25,000 of taxpayers' money to promote private enterprise. Is this legal?— October 24, 2012 5:53 p.m.
Sweetwater Board Takes Heat at Meeting
This has got to be one of the most, if not THE most dysfunctional school boards and superintendents, ever. Now we have a *volunteer* oversight committee chairperson being harassed. Why? He questioned them. That's his job! This is ridiculous. On top of it all, these subpoenas will ultimately co$t u$. What's new?— October 18, 2012 6:45 p.m.
Sweetwater’s Ed Brand Seeks to Remove Committee Members
Sjtorres: Actually, I don't think it would be a bad idea to have union input on the BOC. Classroom practitioners, as well as all other district employees who service students, would offer invaluable input. Their organizations (unions) would be a great asset, offering the views of those who deal with the day-to-day operations of the district in an organized, collective format. Why would that be so bad? Wouldn't you want nurses, doctors, and other health care workers to have input on how to best finance the running of a hospital or clinic? When you constantly use words like "union hacks" when referring to workers organizations, you lose any credibility you might have, and sound like a hack yourself. bvagency has asked you to provide proof of your allegations. I hope you publish them here in this forum for us all to read, as he has. Bvageny: Your comments are very disturbing. Your pressure-lunch example is a real eye opener. Thanks for sharing. You are to be commended for your courage and honesty. Maybe Sjtorres has had one coke and a smile too many.— October 13, 2012 3:34 p.m.
Sweetwater’s Ed Brand Seeks to Remove Committee Members
I agree with erupting, this committee seems to have the public's interest at heart. What bothers me though, is they caved in to this bully of a superintendent's threat. Ed Brand didn't use the "transparency" card for 3 and a half years. Why now? Because this committee has been asking too many good questions, and like when he skipped away from the toxic soil press conference, he doesn't want to answer them. Had they stood their ground, the public would undoubtedly been enraged.— October 12, 2012 7:17 p.m.
New Chula Vista Comedy Club, Strip Club, What’s the Diff?
I don't know about everyone else, but this is becoming pretty confusing to me. Am I reading the business license application correctly? Does it say the application was submitted on October 4th, and then they actually opened for business on the 8th? How is that? Seems pretty fast track. By the way cvres, here's a link to at least one definition of a cabaret. http://www.yelp.com/biz/nitelife-cabaret-san-diego— October 10, 2012 8:46 p.m.
