Sweetwater U partnership opposed by Freedom from Religion
provocateur From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Traditionally, an agent provocateur (plural: agents provocateurs, French for "inciting agent(s)") is an agent employed by the police or other entity to act undercover to entice or provoke another person to commit an illegal act. More generally, the term may refer to a person or group that seeks to discredit or harm another by provoking them to commit a wrong or rash action.— January 18, 2013 8:44 p.m.
Sweetwater U partnership opposed by Freedom from Religion
Based on the last couple of articles and comments, provocation seems to be the current strategy in Sweetwater.— January 18, 2013 8:27 p.m.
Serious supporters of Sweetwater trustee Pearl Quiñones
Mr. Delgado needs to enroll in some sort of anger management course, program, or whatever is available to him. In the meantime, he should voluntarily restrain from attending any function or being anywhere near Mr. Anguiano for a while. This has obviously become an explosive situation. Let's hope the authorities are aware and have a plan to ensure public safety.— January 17, 2013 7 p.m.
Serious supporters of Sweetwater trustee Pearl Quiñones
Mr. Anguiano should consider getting a restraining order against this man.— January 16, 2013 4:33 p.m.
Documents hint at Sweetwater board’s diners’ club
I scrolled down the entire the credit card record. It's amazing how often taxpayers' dollars bought so many meals, many quite expensive. Granted, this goes back some years, but to understand how so many could have been caught up in this "culture", you have to trace back to the roots of the problem. It's pretty clear that Brand shall we say, set the table. Very important information in this article. Thank you, Susan and the Reader.— January 11, 2013 9:38 p.m.
Sweetwater school board avoids campaign donations talk
Couldn't Mr. Cartmill have placed campaign contributions on the next meeting's agenda? He talks the good talk saying, “at some point we are going to have contribution limitations", but walks away from the issue when it comes to action. The public is getting impatient, and really tired of having school board seats bought and paid for by contractors.— December 13, 2012 8:28 a.m.
Out with the old...
Pancho: When you say, "Nice to see a change in the votes", do you mean we can now expect the council to go along with the mayor and her close ally Bensoussan, and that's good? Wouldn't we rather have a council with less predictability, one that would vote on issues based on many factors rather than simply voting in a "united" political coalition like the sign and your comment seem to suggest?— December 8, 2012 8:25 a.m.
Mayor Cox Cozy with Chula Vista Developer
Mr. Pieri, who has defaulted on his Gateway II project loan, has now been granted another loan for an apartment project? So much for credit scores. I guess it's who you know that really matters.— November 26, 2012 7:53 p.m.
Shades of Sweetwater at Calexico Unified School District
The evidence presented in this article clearly indicates that Mr. Calderon was working for both the school board as well as the financial firm CFW when they were granted a $65,000 contract. Along with his questionable timeline, he whines that the county "keeps pounding the district". Actually Mr. Calderon, the Imperial County's office of education is simply doing its job. We need people like Ann Mallory and Richard Currier here in the San Diego county office of education where officials have turned a blind eye to the corruption in the Sweetwater Union High School District.— November 21, 2012 8:55 a.m.
Sweetwater Schools Forum Makes Policy Clear as Mud
Regarding the indictments, trials, and the guilty stepping down, the procedure to replace them will be crucial. Hopefully, there would be a special election. Appointing new members surely wouldn't be in the public's best interest, not with this board. While an election might be costly, those found guilty should be made to pay for one as part of their sentencing or plea bargaining. Not sure this is possible, but I feel the public should have a vote, and we certainly have already paid enough for their greed.— November 16, 2012 9:18 a.m.
