Sweetwater teachers await funding news
The article states: "... sources say Sweetwater’s ROP/CTE offices on Second Avenue will be closed and reopened as a district charter school." What charter school would that be, and why do we need one? What we need is the ROP/CTE program! What a shame.— May 24, 2013 10:34 a.m.
Sweetwater school district board approves Alliant partnership
There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone. —Rod Serling— May 18, 2013 8:56 a.m.
Sweetwater school district board approves Alliant partnership
Like anniej, I thought the Brown Act protected the public from acts such as this. Does anyone know the law, and is there a chance that legal action could be taken in our behalf?— May 17, 2013 7:03 p.m.
Sweetwater school district to team with Alliant University?
bbq: Where did you get the information about Alliant selling their campus? That's very interesting, and I think you might be on to something. Thanks.— May 14, 2013 1 p.m.
Sweetwater school district to team with Alliant University?
I agree with all of the points made here. This is a bad idea, and once again, the public's voice is being ignored. Let's not forget that they're reducing the adult-ed program in order to pull off this "proposed"/done-deal. I find it incredible that this whole plan will have no fiscal impact. By the way, whose money was used for the promo video?— May 13, 2013 1:46 p.m.
Another Sweetwater board meeting mired in disagreement
anniej: Yes, I did notice how Brand didn't answer Lopez's question. In fact, it was more like an order that he refused. Isn't that insubordination? Would any other employee be allowed that?— April 17, 2013 5:58 p.m.
Sweetwater board votes to cut occupational programs
Didn't Brand put up another candidate during his last run as superintendent ? Does anyone know the law regarding this? Oh, and to Mr. McCann I say, you have the magic wand, it's called your vote. You just decided not to use it.— April 11, 2013 7:45 p.m.
Latest plans for ill-fated L Street land deal
bbq: I share your fear of the power vacuum with the indictments and the possibility of regional political incest bringing political predators into power positions at Sweetwater. You're absolutely right, a thorough housecleaning is in order. Also, I sure hope we get some answers to this L street mess at the townhall meetings.— April 10, 2013 10 a.m.
Latest plans for ill-fated L Street land deal
anniej: You're right, the public has (once again) been kept in the dark about an important issue. I looked at the board agenda for tonight's meeting and couldn't find anything relating to it. Why not? As this article states, the public spoke about it at the last meeting, and I believe I saw a previous article about it. It's on the public's mind, and questions are being raised by the taxpayers. Where are the answers? Where are the school board members? What's the big secret?— April 9, 2013 3:30 p.m.
Sweetwater school district board seeks to silence opposition
bbq: First of all, thank you for your time, energy, and labor in the interest of public service. However, why do you think that this district, through their representative, Dr. Alt, would be willing to come forward with honest answers to the public's questions when they have ignored the questions and pleas for transparency made by the dozens of people who have attended school board meetings for years? You are to be commended for taking the time out of your life to do public service, and for that I thank you, as I have thanked all of the "antagonists" that have been there for years.— March 29, 2013 7:34 p.m.
