FTC stops work-at-home scam
A judgement that is suspended because he was unable to pay? All the time, money and resources that were spent to resolve this matter and this crook gets away with it because he's broke ? Am I missing something here? Put his unethical ass on a payment plan for goodness sake. Honestly, I just don't get it— August 3, 2013 1:25 p.m.
Another 50 tons of debris removed from site of former A-8 anchorage
I may be ignorant on the issue, but aren't most marine vessels registered? I mean we're not talking rowboats here. I understand that "free anchorage" probably means a lot of these vessels were probably not yachts, but they still had to be registered, yes? Just like cars, there was some type of law enforcement scooting around ensuring these vessels were registered wasn't there? So I guess my question is, are any of the seventy five owners of this ocean trash going to get a bill for the removal costs?— August 2, 2013 5:50 p.m.
Carrier suit against U-T begins tomorrow
I wonder how much of the $30 million dollar settlement went to the lawyers and how much went to the carriers ( not that they deserved it in my opinion).I also laughed out loud ( really I did) upon reading about Mr. Ronis and his expectation of privacy while on his cell phone. He says he wants damages and injunctive relief. Come on now, what he really wants is a substantial amount of money for being a moron. As far as his hopes to convert his lawsuit to a class action affair, I think he may have problems rounding up enough folks idiotic enough to provide anyone sensitive info on a wireless device then expect to be compensated for it.— May 23, 2013 6:29 p.m.
Three-year-old case for Phillip Miller delayed again
Although I am not quite sure why someone with prior felony convictions can "allegedly" shoot somebody in the back of the head with a hand cannon three years ago and still be out in society across multiple state lines, I suppose it's a testament to the 'stellar' job his private attorney is doing. In any case, it would have been nice if the article went into, or at least stated, why the trial was again delayed. Did Miller even have to bother to be at the hearing for the latest delay? I'm guessing that his lawyer is using every trick in his scumbag to delay the trial ( and his clients incarceration) for as long as possible. Money may not change the inevitable, but it sure the hell can delay it. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2012/nov/1…— May 16, 2013 7:02 a.m.
The Spot the Fake Title Quiz
I'm going to guess " Bambi Meets Godzilla" primarily since Disney would never license their darling cashcow,,, I mean deer,,, to be anywhere near a gigantic fire breathing lizard. My nephew's school could not put on a play of Snow White without paying Disney some absurd amount. So yeah, that's the one— May 14, 2013 8:24 p.m.
Caretaker sentenced for dogs' attack on joggers
You are right Vis, I'm still not quite sure how I missed that. The civil system is the one that allows lawyers to purchase the beachfront properties and send their children to Harvard. I think folks perception of their "pitties" are the antithesis of what you describe as attack dogs. I have a really mellow German Shepherd but I'm always aware of what she could do if her instincts decide to kick in. Thanks for taking the time to point that out.— May 5, 2013 11:31 p.m.
Caretaker sentenced for dogs' attack on joggers
So some poor scmuck gets saddled with restitution. I'm wondering why they did not go after the homeowner ( I'm aware he wasn't home at the time) or why the homeowners insurance was not involved. If I dogsit for someone and the dogs get out, am I 100% liable? And don't get me started about the 'photo lineup'. And one more thing, if the dogs were part of a pack of six then it's pretty obvious that the dogs have been out before. I think the caretaker got screwed.— May 3, 2013 8:05 p.m.

Clowns have always scared me just a little bit. Maybe because when I was just a kid, they seemed so big. Maybe it was because a goofy big person just made no sense to me. We baby boomers had parents cut from the fabric of world wars and police actions. Much more straight arrow and solid citizens than you or I will ever be. Certainly not prone to slipping on a orange wig, rudolph nose and size 16 shoes. I could tolerate them ( clowns) if I knew there would be an elephant or lion tamer following their worn & tired act. Anyway as I said earlier, clowns have always scared me just a little , but scary clowns, well that's just creepy ( Killer Klowns From Outer Space excepted). Anyway my point is you should change your profile photo to something else that's just a little less creepy. I'd like to comment on your article, but dude, there's some dark shit going on there. Maybe it's the clown thing. Maybe it's about what happens when your window has closed and your only 52 ( 52 really? That seems still young to me). I guess I will make the assumption that today is your birthday, your 52nd. In any case happy birthday., now send the clowns home,,,,,,,,— April 3, 2013 10:07 p.m.
"Your Birthday in the California Mountains," by Kenneth Rexroth
Everytime I come across this poem, it makes me think about MY window. It makes me appreciate wherever I am, that I still am. I feel as if he is so very close to her that he can feel the dirt trail under his feet and sense the clanging of his fish string. But she is alive in his memory only I wonder if he went back to the place he is remembering ,and wrote this poem with the ghosts of his past swirling around a ring of fire. Thirty years later and he laments her still. I'm just fascinated by his poem. Thanks for sharing this which allowed me to come across it once more— March 15, 2013 12:09 p.m.

Thank you for the cookie. I'm tempted to delay consuming it until I have read the rest of the story. I am guessing that the first sentence of this weeks tale has suggested that there is more to follow next week, yes? It's probably going to be hard as a rock by then, but I think I'll hold on to my cookie until next week in order to derive " maximum enjoyment". Ummmm, there is more to the story right? I mean, you're just screwing with us right?— December 22, 2012 8:53 a.m.
