Sterling's racial remarks cause a stir
With all due respect Don, the fact that his lawyers statement talked about possible legitimacy and/or altering of the tape said a lot. The fact that he did not come right out and deny his client said those things speaks volumes. And the harlots lawyer saying that she did not give the tapes to any media outlet ( see CNN story) only suggests that she gave it to an intermediary. I'm thinking that Oksana Grigorieva may have given some advice to Sterling's parasite.— April 27, 2014 10:18 p.m.
Suspected bike thieves rough up schoolboy
I honestly don't understand why this punk has his face obscured. Is it so anyone else he may have jacked couldn't identify him if they happened to be reading this article? I also wonder why there is no assault charge against these guys. I, however, am not surprised that they are out walking the streets, that's just typically the way it works. I can just see them and their friends around the computer, smoking some weed, saying " no, dude, really!!!! That's my picture, check me out".— March 19, 2014 8:33 p.m.
Ted Leitner has on-air meltdown at SDSU game
You can listen to the whole thing on You Tube if you have nothing better to do. I always thought Leitner was arrogance personified but I can understand how people feel better about themselves by listening to him,,,, ( want some ice for that burn Ted?). I'd hate to be his waiter.— March 16, 2014 2:10 p.m.
Earl Stiff's Oscar recap
Funny thing. I googled ' snarcasm' and this article popped up. After reading the piece, I find myself questioning the relationship between humor and unconstrained viciousness. I only saw one in the article. Maybe I'm just trying too hard ( kinda like Earl no longer being able to live up to his last name).— March 3, 2014 3:11 p.m.
Dig a hole: Joan Fontaine
Thanks Scott, still would sure like to know about that photo. Bitter feud that lasts a lifetime and yet there is this photo that exists showing one holding on to the other in a pensive embrace, seemingly quite ready to set the bad things onto a shelf, while the other is looking to the photographer to hurry things along. I would surely enjoy to know more about how these two came together on that day. Someone knows, it's just that nobody thinks anyone gives a shit I guess,,,,,, too bad,,,,— December 16, 2013 11:29 p.m.
Dig a hole: Joan Fontaine
Although Joan Fontaine's moments of fame were 20 years or so before my time, I very much enjoyed learning a bit about her. What I'm really curious about however, is after reading the article, I'm wondering what the story is behind the photo. What circumstances brought them together in a moment that actually appears tender and somewhat relaxed ? The photo appears to be them in their middle years and I can't help but think something interesting must have happened to bring these two together for that particular photoshoot. So,,,,, what's the scoop Scott?— December 16, 2013 6:53 p.m.
Tolerence Vs. Tryanny
"Does it take much of a man to see his whole life go down, To look up from the gutter, from a hole in the ground, To live his whole life like a horse that's gone lame, To lie in the gutter and die with no name,,,," I dunno how i feel about it. I think those who are living it see less 'balance' than a writer who has a refuge, a home, to return to after a day spent interpeting despair. Perhaps they feel some degree of hope, but spending the day playing hackeysack, sleeping, or fixing a tent and posing for pictures does not a fisherman make. There are some organizations out there that take the downtrodden in and immerse them in new beginnings and actually give them real hope. For those that are not interested in that, or not fortunate enough to find that path what can you say? I don't think anyone's riding freight trains anymore, looking for a better way. Woody Guthrie woulda' wanted to do something about it, but picking someone up who has no desire to stand? There's ten people lookin' to stand for every one who you call a 'wonderer ' or maybe you meant 'wanderer'? Still, I appreciated the article, just not sure how I feel about the message. Now, on a lighter note; the first one who can tell me the author of the first four lines of my comment wins a two day stay in Portland. You also win a copy of Johnny Cash's " Wayfarin Stranger" just so by the time you get there, you really understand just what wayfarin means.— September 15, 2013 10:01 p.m.
Class action suit caused retaliatory suspension, claims class action suit
Honestly, why are these people receiving disability benefits? Why are half the people I see weekday fishing or in the bars drinking receiving SSI benefits? Why are there attorneys who advertise on TV limiting their practice solely to "advocate" for these people? An awful lot of SS tax comes out of my paycheck every week. I'm supposed to support these people because they have back problems or drug problems, their slow learners or might have Fibromyalgia? Front of the line for medicaid, free cell phones and a service dog if you need one? Obviously, there is a residue of people who truly need help and benefit from this expensive freebie, but c'mon it's a scam handed down from generation to generation, at least a big slice of it is. Eternal optimist that I am ( no, really), I can see that that american pie is going to be around for a long, long time.— September 5, 2013 1:09 p.m.
Head of Indian center admits embezzling
Of course it was laundered; some of it anyway. Maybe 70K was declared by the casino and the other 71.26K " never happened" ( over a period of time of course) . I mean, it's not like you get a receipt if you lose. And the cash isn't declared ( obviously) by the casino's until it's counted. I mean really, what casino isn't skimming something off that perpetual pile of scratch? Anyway, that's really a whole different topic. This article is really just about some schmuck who got carried away with another perpetual pile of scratch,,,,,,,federal cash. If he was there just three months and figured he could hide 141K, it must have been coming in by the boatload.— August 7, 2013 9:33 p.m.
Head of Indian center admits embezzling
I wonder if Mr. Hedley will use some of that wampum he embezelled to hire an attorney who will state that his client has a gambling addiction and is looking forward to getting the help he needs for his dreadful disease; snort chuckle— August 6, 2013 7:50 p.m.
