Jaisalmer Fort
The Jaisalmer Fort, no doubt is an amazing tourist site in Rajasthan. Even today more than 30% of Jaisalmer's population lives inside this Golden Fort. And if you are inside here then you must visit Patwon Haveli, Salim Singh Haveli, Raja ka Mahal, Nathmalji Ki Haveli. All these 4 are few of many centuries old Haveli's (mansions) which were once the private residence of Jaisalmer royal family and today they are stunning museums which you & I can explore. Apart from the Jaisalmer, fort, you must also visit **Jaisalmer War Museum, Gadisar Lake, Bada Bagh, Vyas Chhatri, Sam sand dunes** (desert area to enjoy desert safari tours), and **Desert Culture Centre & Museum**. All these are must-visit sites in Jaisalmer. And believe me, there are lot more sites which you can explore in Jaisalmer, apart from these ones To reach Jaisalmer, you can either book train tickets from Delhi, Ahmedabad or any major city of India. Plus from 2017, Jaisalmer Airport is now also open for business but only from October to March, and sadly with very limited flights. Only travellers from Delhi and Jaipur can catch direct flights. All others have to take a one spot flight which isn't a bad option if your train to Jaisalmer is more than 15 hours long. As even 1 stop flight will not take more than 7-8 hours. And to know more on how to plan a holiday for Jaisalmer, have a look at [Santram Holidays Jaisalmer tour packages][1], along with their list of some of the [best desert camps in Sam sand dunes Jaisalmer][2]. The best months to visit Jaisalmer is from October to February, and you can also visit in months like August, September & March to enjoy less crowded tours. And for more details of Jaisalmer tourism, I would suggest you to read the [Jaisalmer tourism][3] guide from Chetram Voyages or buy a book on Jaisalmer from [Lonely Planet][4].
