Register Staffers Didn't Want Manchester, Says L.A. Times
Who knew that the suburban-lite OC Register journalists would rise up and state their desire to throw off the (potential) choking yoke of Papa Doug & his Lyncher John? I have new found respect for writers in the land of Disneyland now.— June 13, 2012 7:33 a.m.
Gwynn Family Backs Bob Filner, Tax Liens Highlighted by Union-Tribune
It is shameful that wonderful hometown hero Tony Gwynn should even have to sweat taxes. (And I like that he's supporting Filner too.) If there is anyone here in San Diego with the financial resources to help this great guy, you should step up right now & pay off this former Padres debts! We need to keep Gwynn focused on his job up at SDSU and off any money troubles. How's a Hall of Famer supposed to concentrate on the Aztecs pitching when he's worried about the IRS coming around? Let's make it happen for Tony, San Diego!— June 11, 2012 12:17 p.m.
First Hour at the San Diego County Fair
The least the Del Mar Fair should do is give that pig lady from Escondido an honorary annual pass for her love & devotion to swine! Now that's outta this world! http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2012/jun/1…— June 10, 2012 6:56 a.m.
Another Honest Journalist Canned by U-T
This is shameful! The U/T needs a measured sports voice more than ever and they go and can Tim Sullivan? The one that needs to be shipped to an Italian old age home is that sycophant with a pen Nick Canepa. Papa Doug is also removing all negative comments about Sullivan's "departure" in the comments section on the U/T website. Can we say brutal censorship?— June 2, 2012 8:42 a.m.
Kiss Statue's (Final) Final Weekend
We need to stage a "kiss-in" to raise money for a replacement statue. Perhaps local celebrities can all go down to the Embaradero & sell their kisses for charity. Basic kisses, of course, are less expensive that French kisses & simple groping. Perhaps some of the more attractive Reader journalistic all-stars can go down there to support cheesy public art. Just make sure that the one or two of them that are kissable remember to brush their teeth & squirt some antiseptic mouthwash first!— May 25, 2012 7:39 a.m.
Trustees From San Diego Unified Hear Opposition to Selling Barnard Elementary
I remember back a few years ago in the good ole days how SDUSD planned to close Barnard, sell it off and build inexpensive condos on the property to sell or rent to potential school teachers--luring them to work for district. Then, there was to be a park or green space in the empty lot full of weeds that sits right next to the school. I wish that the school district would sell the property to the city or county to use specifically as dedicated open space. The Barnard school area is already congested & impacted enough as it is.— May 23, 2012 3:25 p.m.
Rancho Santa Fe's Democratic Soft Money Queen Dating Al Gore, says Washington Post
So what! This is big news that some rich RSF broad is "making greenhouse gas" with Al Gore! Love it when the Reader prints tawdry gossip and innuendo. What a refreshing change from all that Sweetwater scandal stuff that gets rammed down our throats constantly.— May 20, 2012 8:24 a.m.
Suspect Stabs Then Goes to Rob Pills from Walgreens
OMG, that Walgreen's has more problems with all the homeless & drifters that hang around that area. Those poor store employees should receive HAZARD PAY for all the crap they put up with. I can never park my car & try and go in to shop without being accosted for money by a bum. SDPD Homeless Outreach van should go pay a call on the Walgreen's parking lot on Midway.— May 8, 2012 2:28 p.m.
Noel Gallagher Gives the People What They Want
This reviewer must have been to another show that he mixed up with Noel Gallagher's. The Spreckles Theater was to capacity. The box office lady told me so. The music was excellent and the crowd seemed to eat it up. Noel Gallagher has plenty of personality, considering he is a cold-blooded Englishman. The High Flying Birds received a thunderous ovation and they seemed genuinely pleased that San Diegans showed them so much love. The band promised in closing that they would be back again. So much for this gig "lacking momentum."— May 7, 2012 4:20 p.m.
Recently Released Inmate Found Living at Pot Grow House
If the dirty Feds & corrupt local politicians who have been paid off by the Mexican drug cartels hadn't closed all the medicinal marijuana facilities that were operating legally under state law recently, these poor boys would not have to take to growing medical pot in the cramped confines of a north county apartment! http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2012/may/0…— May 4, 2012 8:15 a.m.
