Sweetwater board candidate stumps on civility
I'm concerned over the voting areas. I believe area #2 has the largest population. I believe Cartmill and his church are in the same voting area and is pretty small. Can anyone shed some light on this factually. I'm concerned because of the old saying forgive and forget. His church community alone could possibly win the election for him, because of the number of people running for the seat. After listening to Cartmill's tape and his commentary,I felt like he was trying to put his demise by the DA's office as a mistake because of the nattering nabobs. I felt as though he was trying to shift the blame on us somehow. It truly made me angry to have him go after Maty in such a cheap way. He attempted to misuse her word to help himself. My neighbor suggested making a sign and standing on the corner of his church on Sundays and letting them know what a liar and manipulator he is.— September 26, 2014 6:16 a.m.

These are the monsters, Mayor Cox
It would be interesting to hear Padilla's thoughts on this matter. But unfortunately what a politician says before an election and what happens after the election seldom match. But I have to say I agree with you anniej "Just say no to McCan't " and Cartmill. Eastlake Action Group maybe going to the next City Council Mtg.with red paint donations and labor will embarrass them. Politicians are born with lies on their lips.— September 22, 2014 10:56 a.m.
Busy week at Sweetwater school district
Correct John. Any candidate that would want this guys support is an idiot. The only one who would probably even consider it would be McCann. It's my understanding Winet was the brains behind the buy out that started at 5 million then went supposedly to 3 million and final payout $750.00. If true a job well done, but still a gift of public funds because of Ed Brand the master mind who tried to become a property baron using a non profit to front the deals.— September 7, 2014 3:25 p.m.
Sweetwater cash cow improperly milked
I truly am tired of hearing Tom Calhoun's name. Hopefully when we get a new board and supt.we can get rid of some of these Brandites starting with Calhoun. Why we didn't use the county's people is a mystery. I remember anniej talking about this in the past. I don't know about anyone else but I feel a new board secretary is a must. She was trying to keep her job I'm told, but Brand is gone and the problem getting public information is still a game of chess with Ms Vicedo. I'm tired of the games, run around and being treated like the enemy. We were told at the special board mtg that transparency would prevail as far as the property was concerned. Well I'm still waiting for Lichman's response to the district's inquiries about the property. So much for transparency. I don't know about anyone else but I have no hope that this board will do what's right for this community. More hide and seek games, with a bone thrown at us occasionally. I bet we get one tonight from the CFO in her report about unaudited funds, problem it will be a partial truth.— September 4, 2014 2:26 p.m.
Pimp hand strong in Chula
oldchulares,I agree with you. This is about residents knowing what happened in SUHSD and the scandal. Well if they don't read the papers what makes the Mayor and the Voice think they will come to these workshops. I believe there is more to this than meets the eye so to speak.— August 27, 2014 1:15 p.m.
Pimp hand strong in Chula
The Dan Hom that recently hosted a fund raiser for McCann. The Dan Hom that was questioned by the DA. The Dan Hom that was a supporter of Bonnie Dumanis. Well he sure gets around doesn't he.— August 25, 2014 7:11 a.m.
New blood for Sweetwater district?
Hopefully this board will stand by what they said they would do. The closed session I want to believe is not about more deals. They went on record stating they wouldn't.— August 21, 2014 6:23 a.m.
Sweetwater district’s mellow ruse
People from Eastlake are definitely getting the short end of the stick. A hike in their Mellos, over crowding in their schools, not enough books or IPADS for the students, and open boundaries with no relief in sight. The interim board is continuing to make decisions that are not for the betterment of our district. Why they continue in this manner is beyond reason, especially when they could have taken care of day to day business and waited for our new board to be seated. I heard there is a mtg.tomorrow morning at 10:00am about the property, conveniently timed for the publics attendance. I guess they can't do evenings when working people are able to attend and voice their views. Same old methods just a different board. I heard there is a group of Eastlakers who are researching how to secede from the district.— August 13, 2014 7:44 a.m.
33% of the profit? No problem — hey!
I attended the mtg.with other community members where Mr. Diamond refused to address the issue of receiving 33% of the profits, stating that the district told him not to talk about that issue. When Tom Calhoun was asked if he knew he stated, I'm not a mind reader. Well I guess his nose grew a foot on that lie. Instead of saying I can't talk about that, he lies. Great character reference.— August 1, 2014 7:54 a.m.
