Poway Proposition Plea: Vote Yes on F
I really wonder how much Collins made from that monstrously bad bond deal. Because no one could possibly rig something with terms that punishing without hoping to benefit in some way, somewhere down the line. Of course, if Collins gets a job with that bond company after being booted from Poway, maybe it will all be crystal clear. Which is probably why there should be a mandatory period of at least one year before someone in the public sector is hired by a company they worked with while "serving".— April 30, 2016 9:09 p.m.
Where are the cops when you need them in Ocean Beach?
There is beyond a shadow of a doubt, a real problem with the 911 system in San Diego County. There was the horrific incident of the dog attacking the baby, and the family was put on hold once for three minutes, and again after they hung up and called back. Yes, someone needs to hire some more people. 911 needs to be staffed appropriately. Furthermore, I think the public needs to see that this is a priority, and not feel like they are being talked down to when problems are reported. Maybe it is time for a very deep look into what is going on with the 911 "department".— April 30, 2016 9:05 p.m.
Accused gambling scofflaws get day in court
Of course you are correct, but there is such an air of desperation about Chula Vista's city government that those responsible are unlikely to do anything. It seems that the business interests rather like the idea of "warm bodies" occupying positions, because they are never challenged.— April 29, 2016 11:55 a.m.
Accused gambling scofflaws get day in court
You got that right! Does anyone know why that bunch has had difficulties verifying those who participate in the before and after school programs? Because the last I heard, their contract with Sweetwater was renewed even though they had no verifiable data that they were handling the students they say they were.— April 25, 2016 1:57 p.m.
Accused gambling scofflaws get day in court
I really have to wonder that the city of Chula Vista really welcomed this business, when it looks rather clear that the lapses in their internal controls would allow all sorts of shady money maneuvers. Why promote that? Why support that? Why allow it to be brought into neighborhoods? For the same reason Chula Vista's southwest sector has the only parole office in the county? Is someone trying to use this part of town as a textbook case for undermining a societal group? Because no matter how hard I try, I really can't figure out why Chula Vista's civic leaders do not see the damage they do. Are they senseless, soulless and mindless as well?— April 25, 2016 6:53 a.m.
Did citizens lose when Councilman McCann won?
To answer your question--only if they are interested in discouraging the registrar's "whimsical" approach. It just might be all part of the Great Web, to paraphrase Jeeves.— April 11, 2016 3:54 p.m.
John Moores's former lawyer back in private sector
So when you are running low on clients, you might as well return and work for the government, circulate, meet people and cycle out with business cards in hand. No one year waiting period?— April 10, 2016 8:12 a.m.
The nut of consciousness
Footage of this car in action was part of the performance--it really could turn on a dime!— April 9, 2016 9:05 a.m.
The nut of consciousness
The good news is that some performances were added on to the run, and I was able to see this last night! Great show! Amazing view into the mind and heart of this original thinker! One person shows are always astounding because of the enormous amount of material that is covered, and this one is no exception. I wish all high school and college students could see this, because it has the wit and energy to spark something, even (and perhaps especially) in those who wonder 'what is it all about', 'why are we here', 'what can one person do'. Magnificent. I think there are still two performances to go--so please go and see this!— April 9, 2016 6:46 a.m.
Did citizens lose when Councilman McCann won?
Well here's the problem as I understand it: there was a hypothetical calculated risk in that those determining which ballots were legitimate and which were not could check voter registration rolls. If someone was registered in such a way that did not look like it would be a vote for a certain candidate, it was judged to be easier to disallow those ballots. Not exactly what we think of when we talk about representational democracies.— April 8, 2016 1:22 p.m.
