Pay Up to Park
While I am in support of the revenue stream I have to admit I can't stand the new parking meters. For years I've been parking on the lower level of the church parking where it was only church parking "Sunday from 7am to noon". I have to admit the night I pulled in and saw the meters I was annoyed. Let's go back to Columbus day weekend. On Saturday night at 7:30pm all the meters were covered with bags for special event parking, none of them were full. Strike two: 9:30am Monday not a soul in sight and not a car in sight at the church the meters were still covered for special event parking. What happens if this becomes a trend? I have friends who already don't want to come to Del Mar because of the parking, way to go, let's decrease tourism a bit more. What does a church need all the meters covered for on a Saturday night and Monday morning if there clearly was no event? Frustrated in Del Mar.— October 19, 2010 12:46 a.m.
Naming rights, anyone?
You know Fox won't live too far from campus in anything under a few million. I wonder if she'll be able to keep her car paid by UCSD as well and her incompetent husband can continue to teach Chemistry? UCSD is not poor, but they keep stating they are. I went there and I'm still disgusted how the whole system is run.— March 30, 2010 11:20 p.m.
How UCSD Spent Over $500,000 on a Home Remodel That Never Happened
As a UCSD alum I can't say I understand this. Recently I received a letter to donate money for scholarships. I understand the need for donations, but with the Ms. Fox making all that money (400k from the UC and another 400k in board seats, 6k housing allowance and a car-not to mention her husband has a job teaching chemistry) it is a mockery. I'll donate when she makes a reasonable salary. This school had so many issues while I was in attendance I can't help but feel bad for the students attending for the UC name where industry won't hire UCSD graduates because the teaching system is so poor. Let's thank the unions for letting incompetents stay in their jobs and good teaches get the boot because they are too hard. What a joke.— March 8, 2009 10:36 p.m.
