National City a long way from Scripps Ranch
Wasn't it McCann who had the auto-dialer message sent out before a board meeting saying he was going to vote no on district paying legal for fellow board members?— August 22, 2013 8:10 p.m.
National City Planning Commission prodded to decide on making space for Alliant Int'l University
I remember Little also "broke" the story of un-patriotism at a previous board meeting, which he did not attend, where Occupy Sweetwater members jeered when McCann "realized" that the Pledge of Allegiance had been overlooked. That same meeting where 2 other news channels actually were there and did not report any such nonsense. Oh, and he also "discovered" the threat to McCann's body and the restraining order event that happened approx. 4 months before that. Does the McCann residence have Little on speed dial?— August 16, 2013 4:07 p.m.
National City Planning Commission prodded to decide on making space for Alliant Int'l University
I have yet to see any police report about the accident (Hasn't it been long enough yet???), but from what I've read from earlier reports, McCann was going north on Old Telegraph Canyon Road, turning onto Telegraph Canyon Road. He was then hit by the other vehicle on the front driver side of the vehicle. I never saw which way he was turning, so I don't know the exact direction for the point of impact. However, Old Telegraph Canyon Road is a small dead-end street that has a stop sign to come out on to Telegraph Canyon Road. There is only 2 ways he could have been hit. Either turning east onto Telegraph Road. Or, crossing 2 lanes of traffic to bypass the center divide island to turn left. Either way, McCann has to make sure traffic is clear on his left before entering traffic that has a speed limit of 45mph, with no stop sign or light on their part.— August 16, 2013 11:20 a.m.
National City Planning Commission prodded to decide on making space for Alliant Int'l University
Agreed oskidoll. And I hope they do not succumb to any pressure to rush such investigation. Why is almost everything Sweetwater works on "Time Sensitive"? They do not have to have classes starting so soon. They could easily have classes start in the Spring, to allow time for all these processes to be set in place properly. What is the phrase? P*ss poor planning on your part does not constitute an urgency on my part.— August 16, 2013 10:21 a.m.
Alliant University leaves Sweetwater school district property in National City…sets up at Southwestern College?
Curious. Why would McCann be the signer of the agreement? I figure that "glory" would go to our Superintendent, or to Cartmill, as the current board president.— August 11, 2013 7:12 p.m.
What am I doing in Eastlake?
You need to be careful when using school scores when moving into the area. My coworker just moved into a house right next to Veterans Elementary because of their scores, and just found out that the school, and others nearby, are overcrowded. The school district would be sending her son Eastlake Elementary (about 3 miles away.) Looking at the scores, Eastlake isn't too bad, but their API scores are approx. 50 points below Veteran's. I tried to let her know that API scores aren't everything, but when that is a huge factor for deciding on location, it's hard to get around.— August 5, 2013 2:24 p.m.
Week in review: Sweetwater Union High School District
I notice that Alliant has a clause that they can terminate the agreement...didn't Sweetwater think they could use such a clause? I note that as part of the agreement, Alliant is basically offering $1,000 per academic year per full time student enrolled. They have a minimum limit of 50 students with a minimum 15 students per course. Out of 4 courses limited, if 3 of the 4 have the required 15 students, having less than 15 students in that 4th course would drop the entire program. So, they have a minimum of 60 required (not 50). So Alliant is offering up to $60,000 (or possibly more) to Sweetwater Students in exchange as full and complete compensation for all services, support facilities, utilities and related costs. What is our market value for this property, and is this really a good value to exchange?— July 19, 2013 2:33 p.m.
Week in review: Sweetwater Union High School District
According to Ed that night they agreed/voted/began dancing, Alliant is allegedly going to be offering SUHSD students "scholarships" to help reduce student costs, in exchange for the use of the facilites. Ed felt that was a good trade off. Though, what ends up happening if there are no students signing up, I don't know what is offered in trade then. Would be nice if there were some sort of document provided that would spell out such details. Oh, wait...they voted and agreed on that non-existent document.— July 10, 2013 2:35 p.m.
Sweetwater trustee reports stolen property to police
Depends on how the search is configured. I tried it out this morning and received alerts regarding police activity that had Sweetwater in the article, with no relation to the school district.— June 19, 2013 9:49 a.m.
Sweetwater board candidate has his sign damaged
UT has an article showing the State is not cutting Adult Ed funding. The article mentions Sweetwater is discussing this tonight. I don't see this particular point on the agenda. I see the "agreement" with Boston Reed. Unless it is talking about the other items in that category talking about extending certain agreements. It still doesn't look like the discussion is anywhere close to the budgeting of Adult Ed.— June 17, 2013 11:23 a.m.
