Biker accident victims win $375K settlement
The street has been poorly marked for a long time. It starts off as two lanes going south from Clairmont Mesa Blvd, with a couple arrows indicating the right lane is ending. From there, however, the street doesn't narrow, there is no marking on the right side indicating the lane has ended, or any reason why the lane has ended(like spots for vehicle parking along the curb.) As a result, drivers going south end up all over the place in the lane, with no real indication as to where they are heading. (Continuing straight? Possibly making a right into the parking lot? Are they pulling to the right to go around a car preparing to make a left?) Motorcyclist was probably on the right side of the lane causing the Walmart customer to think they were pulling into the lot, and pulled out right in front of the cycle.— July 22, 2016 2:19 p.m.
New Ward Canyon dog park not mutt-tough?
Maybe Michelle Chicarelli should proceed with her suggestion to go out and stomp on the bark ground cover to help it settle. Maybe if she does it while barefoot, she can get a better feel on whether she has stomped out all the splinters.— June 3, 2016 8:26 a.m.
Did citizens lose when Councilman McCann won?
If, according to the post that Ponzi posted (March 25th, 9:15a), the state rules and guidelines on provisional ballots is true, then the ballots should be counted, or at least been given more inspection. Especially if the signature matched. I wonder why they, beyond address, were excluded and if those who cast them were contacted to clarify. There could be a number of valid reasons why something didn't match, but upon verification they may have counted.— April 4, 2016 8:20 p.m.
Did citizens lose when Councilman McCann won?
I have a question along the same line. Since the suit was mainly against the Registrar challenging how it counts the provisional ballets, what exactly was McCann's lawyer for him doing that racked up a bill of 99 Thousand?— March 28, 2016 7:49 a.m.
Educational turf war down south
Curious. 3 brand new posters sign up today and post within an hour, cheerleading this charter school.— March 5, 2016 6:17 p.m.
Educational turf war down south
Question regarding the " the charter deprives the district of students and students’ average daily attendance monies." What are the attendance statistics for the schools in the area? My coworker moved into the area a couple years ago, moving into a house blocks away from a school she chose due to its API scores. Unfortunately, the school was full, requiring the district to assign and bus her student to another school more than 3 miles away. Not knocking any of the schools or either district, but it seems that there may be an overabundance of students in the area. Any money the district would get by having the student in their school would be offset by costs of transporting them to other schools.— March 3, 2016 8:12 a.m.
More body cameras for SDPD
An article in the UT this morning (11/10) shows another police incident where the camera was turned off. What does it matter how many cameras are out there "protecting" us public, when they are not on to record incidents? (I do know there are times where the camera should not be recording, due to privacy, but if they are not on for the moments where they are needed, what's the point?)— November 10, 2015 7:24 a.m.
Castle Park schools besieged by age
I remember Southwest High was supposed to have 3 phases, back at the beginning of all the Prop. O work. Phase 1 sat for roughly 2 years as the first contractor had issues. (SGI? Not entirely sure I'm remembering that correctly, it's been so long.) Phase 2 was supposed to be a mini multi-purpose gym, and I think I remember Phase 3 being about the football field. Well, Phase 1 got completed way past the original schedule, and there has been nothing else. (Well, they did get a huge pile of dirt.)— October 22, 2015 1:43 p.m.
Handicap placard abusers on notice
True, while it is nobody's business, people are going to judge. We see situations where people cheat the system many times. So people assume incorrectly when they see someone who appears to be cheating the system and want to speak up. Or they are disabled themselves and feel they should have priority over your minimally perceived disability. I see people parking in those spaces, and I don't judge. Having worked for a parking company in the past, the only thing I speak up about is if they do not have any sort of pass, either hanging or license plate. If I see those, no problem.— October 19, 2015 4:24 p.m.
Handicap placard abusers on notice
Sadly, there are people out there who are going to judge.— October 19, 2015 1:48 p.m.
