40-foot sailboat stolen from the Chula Vista Marina
Hmm, the last article went through July 6th. This article starts with July 8th. I guess July 7th had nothing happen.— July 18, 2018 7:37 a.m.
The fall of Horton Plaza
Worked a few years in the parking garage during the Hahn Company years. There is definitely a trick to finding your way around the structure. I want to joke and say it's called remembering where you park, but it also involves remembering how and where you entered the mall. Having the ramps labeled half of the lower level and half of the upper level did not help. People would park, say on level 5 and walk down to the level 4 mall entrance. Later coming out they remember level 5 and end up walking up the wrong ramp, starting from the wrong mall entrance.— June 29, 2018 11:15 a.m.
"The will of the people"
The Electoral College allows people living in the smaller, less populated states to have a voice. Remember, we are not living in a Democracy, but a Republic. If we allowed the election to be won by just popular vote, then candidates would never have to visit any of the smaller states at all. None of their concerns would be addressed.— March 27, 2018 10:47 a.m.
Is Kaiser adding to Kearny Mesa traffic?
Widespread homicide should not be the motivation to get such practice in place. Oops, you probably meant from all the accidents from such high speed traffic collisions that could take place in these jammed up intersections. (Ha ha.) My bad.— July 11, 2017 4:34 p.m.
Is Kaiser adding to Kearny Mesa traffic?
The busy roadways combined with the ramp meter lights on the busy freeways make for a very frustrating commute. Adding to the frustration, drivers making turns on red lights where drivers who actually *have* the green lights are not entering the intersection because they have nowhere to go to get out of the intersection as traffic is backed up. When those with actual green lights finally get the space to go through, side traffic drivers make that turn to squeeze in, causing traffic to get stuck. I'd like to see no turns on red lights during rush hours in that area, along with a traffic cop or 3 to enforce it for a time, to see if anything eases.— July 11, 2017 3:27 p.m.
San Diego dog parks becoming dust boxes
*"Ball fields, soccer fields, skate parks and heavily used picnic areas continue to be watered."* Skate Parks? Aren't these concrete, not grass? If so, aren't they supposed to be refraining from hosing these off?— May 8, 2017 4:21 p.m.
Murphy Canyon gas-station grapple
I don't know how adding 4 pumps and a car wash would increase traffic 75% in that area during the busiest times. I would like to see signs added to the intersections stating "No right turns on red lights" during rush hour times. Having driven through there, it is very frustrating having a green light, but not entering the intersection (because you have nowhere to go, and can be ticketed for blocking traffic if you get stuck while lights change.) Leaving the gap emboldens drivers to make that right turn when the way is clear, again blocking you way. Such activity ends up increasing traffic in the directions that actually have the right of way.— March 16, 2017 11:39 a.m.
Classical music doesn’t care if you think it is long and boring
Most of us are introduced to classical music via cartoons or movies. From Warner Brothers and Fantasia to big instrumental movie scores. We get the big visuals and laughs that help us create those connections in our brain. When we hear that music later, our minds tend to bring up images we are already familiar with. We see E.T. and Elliott on the bike flying through the night sky. We see Mickey Mouse chopping up the broom carrying the water buckets. We see Bugs Bunny smacking Elmer Fudd with a big stick. Many people lack the ability to hear a piece of music and create the visual image to go along with it. To sit and listen to a string orchestra play chamber music is difficult for people who have never learned to explore their creativity and see where the music takes them.— February 6, 2017 11:29 a.m.
No thanks to heaven for 7-Eleven beer and wine sales
I realize that there are a lot of places to purchase alcohol in this area, but this isn't a "New" store selling alcohol. It appears to be an existing license moving one block over.— September 9, 2016 7:52 a.m.
Unsafe Encanto intersection has predictable results
That idea should be common sense. Sadly, that won't work here Insane Diego.— September 6, 2016 10:55 a.m.
