Sweetwater School Board Awards 2-Year Contract to Ed Brand
Pancho, unbelieveable. I just got a glimpse of the contract. Brand got $750.00 travel allowance. Must be he lives so far away from the district.— September 25, 2012 9:06 p.m.
Chula Vista City Council To Consider Meeting Time Change
City offices are already closed to the public on Friday. (Staff is still at work so it's never been clear how this really saves money.) So if council meetings are held on Tuesday mornings it seems that some of the staff, thecity manager, mayor, city attorney etc would be unavailable to the public during those hours as well--unless a person spoke during public comment. And, do these people really have that little to do? Can they give up a working day to hold a council meeting?— September 24, 2012 3:16 p.m.
Sweetwater Interim Superintendent Ed Brand Resigns
Let Brand's resignation stand--this is spoiled administrator behaviour. He's out. Good riddance. No more people from the retirement fund group. Do a search outside the south bay tar pits and bring someone with vision and commitment to the kids.— September 21, 2012 8:34 p.m.
Sweetwater Schools Board Aborts Meeting Agenda, Not Brand
I can't believe the district is not providing transportation for a special ed student. There has to be a law about that.— September 11, 2012 11:26 a.m.
No Confidence Petition for Sweetwater's Ed Brand
Several concerns here-- Furlough days mean fewer days for students education, as well as teacher pay. How many days of education are we -- general population--willing to cut? Next concern-- if Brand gets a contract will he get a comfy package when he leaves like he did in North County? And, Surf Puppy, Are we reading the same things? Just a teacher doesn't write about students--rather the difficulty of having to deal with the district management at the same time as teaching. I'm not sure what years you taught there? I was wondering what your class size was?— September 8, 2012 7:02 p.m.
Sweetwater Interim Superintendent Ed Brand to Get Contract?
I think Sweetwater has too many of the same people and the same problems recirculating. It's time for a new superintendent--fresh air.— September 2, 2012 1:34 p.m.
On August 17, the district stated that levels of pesticides and lead in soil dumped at Southwest Hig
How long will Brand be interim superintendent? Time for a search committee for something fresh and someone without any baggage?— August 19, 2012 8:10 p.m.
Nephew To Former Sweetwater Superintendent Pleads Guilty
When is the ex-supe Gandara going to trial? Or was the indictment merely drama?— August 18, 2012 9:49 a.m.
Sweetwater's Bond Oversight Committee Calls Special Meeting
Looking around the county, several bonds are going to be on the ballot, it has become increasingly hard to figure out how to vote. I want to see schools fixed or rebuilt so the kids have what they need. But I don't want to be fleeced.— August 9, 2012 9:05 p.m.
Dust Devil Settles in Southwest High’s Dumped-Dirt Debacle
So Brand and Russo knew in March that this was impacting the safety of the fields and impacting the kids. This mirrors the callous decision taken by the board (recommended by Brand?) to cut bus routes without considering safety issues.— July 29, 2012 9:21 a.m.
