Sweetwater board meeting times may change
The school board did the right thing? I assume with a little guidance from the parents, teachers and students. p.s. does the fab 5 of the message board include tim tim?— January 29, 2013 11:51 a.m.
Sweetwater U partnership opposed by Freedom from Religion
In my opinion Sweetwater has enough legal issues on its hands without risking a lawsuit on separation of church and state. I don't even think it sets a good example to the students for the district to flaunt the constitution.— January 21, 2013 7:14 a.m.
Serious supporters of Sweetwater trustee Pearl Quiñones
So this guy was a witness for McCann?— January 16, 2013 1:30 p.m.
Southwestern College professor Philip Lopez dies
I wish he would have written that history of Southwestern. It would have numbered among his many contributions to the community.— December 17, 2012 7:01 p.m.
Sweetwater school board avoids campaign donations talk
Just one important question: where is timtim?— December 12, 2012 10:24 p.m.
Sweetwater University to “Open” Soon?
I hate to be odd man out here but I think it's not a bad idea to let kids take college courses--although I see your point AngryBirds--what about the issue of faith and separation of church and state. For me the issue is -- I think all the resources of the district, teachers, administrators, financial resources--everything they've got should be focused on helping the students to succeed. And stop relying on gimmicks like ipads--smaller class sizes will raise grades. The class sizes there are getting ridiculous.— November 29, 2012 11:11 a.m.
Mayor Cox Cozy with Chula Vista Developer
Woodchuck--I think you make a good point about the disconnect. i don't think either east or west is doing well right now. I'm not sure either that the redevelopment organization helped Chula Vista become a healthier city. What we need is action on the part of the council that is for Chula Vista not for getting palms greased.— November 25, 2012 8:11 p.m.
Shades of Sweetwater at Calexico Unified School District
So when people get over their turkey hangovers.... I'm wondering desertwaverat how you managed to get rid of two incumbents? And was there a concerted effort to elect Kim Joong to council? Too bad, he seemed to be the "no" vote on a lot of dicey issues.— November 23, 2012 8:02 a.m.
Winners, losers and post-election reflection
Crocodile tears. The San Diego dems have said some good things since winning...I hope they stick to them. Unfortunately for Chula Vista, the election of Democrat Bensousan and Salas mean more of whatever the Republican mayor wants.— November 12, 2012 7:57 a.m.
Former Charger Seeks Seat on Sweetwater Schools Board
Mr. Johnston, about criticizing what you don't understand---I believe that there are many supporting facts to indicate that Grossman is the hand-picked candidate of Brand, the superintendent. All Grossman stories aside, that would be a reason to not support him for the board. Many people are beginning to see that what happened in the district with superintendent Gandara was rooted in Brand's first term as superintendent.— November 3, 2012 1:37 p.m.
