Chula Vista seeks university of its own
I am for a university in the South Bay. It's obvious Sweetwater can't even keep their own house in order. I am undecided if I would want Chula Vista to do some kind of piecemeal university.— December 28, 2011 8:28 p.m.
Southwestern College Leery of “Pay for Play” Perception
Why didn't Sweetwater do anything like Southwestern? Sweetwater must have known they were in trouble, they had some of the same pay-to-play characters. They seem to want to go on playing the same game, don't realize the deal is over.— December 26, 2011 9:01 a.m.
Sweetwater Union High School District Boardmembers' Homes Raided
Fun times--at least for speculating. The homes of three board members were searched, three women, three minorities. Sure that tells us nothing. But suppose the homes of the two remaining board members are to be searched, Cartmill and McCann, gosh I guess they would be pretty clean. How long has Cartmill been a board member--through two bond proposals...hmmm.— December 21, 2011 9:01 p.m.
Sweetwater Union High School District Boardmembers' Homes Raided
So far three board members from Sweetwater have been searched: Pearl Quinones, Bertha Lopez, and Arlie Ricasa. I hope there will be searches of the men on the board: Jim Cartmill and John McCann. I'd also like to know what the political breakdown is--dems and republicans. This district has been a haven for crooks-let's hope the shakedown goes down straight. The gloves are off--the election season is on.— December 20, 2011 9:58 p.m.
Victors Write Chula Vista's History? Politicians Do
What a hoot!— December 7, 2011 6:01 p.m.
Sweetwater Union High School Board Prompted for Report on Scott Alevy's Work
Didn't John McCann just run for the Sweetwater board last year? Now he's got his eye on the assembly? Hmmmm, doesn't he like the kids? Why did the Vega report take this long? How do we know he did a thorough investigation--wasn't he the one who hired Garcia? Where is the Vega report? I want to know if the district tried to spin the vote.— November 19, 2011 7:50 a.m.
Sweetwater Union HS District Supe Ed Brand Addresses Problems with U-T Coverage
Question: How can the Sweetwater board be about to vote on the university when the INTERIM superintendent already announced to the U-T that Sweetwater U is going forward?— November 14, 2011 11:34 a.m.
Sweetwater Union High School District Board Tactic Meets Protest
Regarding Quinones she supported firing the district's general counsel and several other votes. Is there no hope for her?— October 21, 2011 6:27 p.m.
The Sweetwater School Board – forget teamwork
This is Gandara's retirement as stated in the UT: "He will also receive 18 months of severance pay, an amount district officials placed at $376,380, plus $40,295 in vacation and sick-leave payout -- for a total of $416,675." In addition the contract was settled so he receives a retirement. Is it possible that we taxpayers did not have to pay it?— October 20, 2011 9:14 a.m.
Goodrich Bought Out After Chula Vista Redevelopment Agency Relocates Company
I agree with radcat about Chula Vista's growth and Rohr. The loss of good jobs is visible in the west side of the city. An earlier comment was about outsourcing and insourcing--for Rohr the demise seemed to begin with shipping to Alabama.— September 29, 2011 5:02 p.m.
