When are we going to see the data-sharing agreement and the follow up on this story?— February 6, 2014 8:05 a.m.
Picket at Sweetwater trustee Cartmill's home
The vote to give Brand a contract was 3-2------if I remember correctly. Would it only take 3 to vote him out or would it have to be a majority. More about the safety issues pls. I've seen several spots on the nightly news about fire alarms. Is that the issue?— January 19, 2014 12:05 p.m.
Sweetwater district spent big for Arne Duncan visit
Showboating should be in relationship to accomplishment. this is just hype. I wish the students well.— December 18, 2013 7:28 p.m.
Sweetwater trustee Arlie Ricasa to resign
So will Ricasa receive money for all the time she has been under the unfluence--of contractors? Will her pay be revoked? She must have voted for this Flores guys contract. What are the consequences? How do people like me who voted for her get a payback for all these years of not representing us?— December 18, 2013 7:21 p.m.
Sweetwater teachers may strike over district policies
Negotiations aside, when the board and the superintendent don't ensure that there are enough spaces for the teachers to sit down--they're giving the employees the level of respect Walmart does.— November 26, 2013 7:40 a.m.
Sweetwater Athletics Hall of Fame scrutinized
I do like the idea of young scholars or athletes being honored. But would they be honored by a Gandara award? Or maybe this sports thing has to do with Burt Grossman? Really -- let's honor the students not bury them in district turmoil.— November 4, 2013 7:58 p.m.
YMCA backs away from Imperial Beach sports park management
I'm glad to see that the Y pulled out. I fear they're going to dominate all free space in the South Bay soon. Quit trying to privatize everything.— October 23, 2013 7:18 a.m.
Cops kick out public from Sweetwater board meeting
aardvark, that's an interesting question. The trial is supposed to be in February I think but why is this partially indicted board able to make million dollar decisions? Couldn't these property deals wait until after guilt or innocence was determined?— October 22, 2013 3:50 p.m.
Teachers for Sweetwater district face insurance cost hike
I love it when people call teachers with families who want adequate health benefits "union extremists." So much for that commentor's credibility. On another point, wasn't more money supposed to go to schools because Proposition 30. How come this district is so much in the hole?— October 17, 2013 12:19 p.m.
Sweetwater school district's real estate deals gain momentum
It was my understanding that the district had to sell the property to the city. I also think THird Ave could use development, but that's a small area surrounded by small streets. It will become a traffic nightmare unless there's 2 parking spaces per unit. How many are there?— October 14, 2013 9:15 a.m.
