BO-beau in Ocean Beach
Brussel sprouts TO DIE FOR, an extravanganza of flavors. Mac 'n cheese creamy and delicious, had the rest for breakfast the next day, it was so good. Considering the meticulous attention to flavor and presentation, I was kind of surprised to get a juice glass for my wine though !— September 14, 2011 9:04 a.m.
Power Outage Cost Local Economy $100 Million
BE GLAD people, that we got a fourteen-hour dry run on what it would be like if the Grid failed us for a big reason. We still had water and natural gas too ! It was a relatively inexpensive tuition for a class in disaster preparedness. Instead of whining and grousing about the power company,we can implement some preparedness with what we've learned. They DID get the power back on in half the estimated time. Sure wish the gas stations had thought of a back up plan for pumping gas. Things we discovered we appreciated that night: 1) glow sticks- four hour light ! 99 cents each 2) our gas grill 3) the natural air conditioning of living close to the beach 4) 266 sunny days a year for solar powered gadgets 5) stores and bars that stayed open, and handled the stampedes efficiently and graciously 6) the bonding effect with our community: impromptu gatherings, cookouts, marshmallow roasts and general hang time on the beach— September 11, 2011 1:17 p.m.

Shredding the waves--James Van Wormer at Avalanche, Ocean Beach
This little Piscean shredder has been everywhere in search of waves: Indonesia, Mexico and always Avalanche early in the morning— November 28, 2010 7:32 p.m.
Cathcing some air in OB
"The Shark" is airborne again! The only Shark known to have wheels, feet, and apparently wings.— November 28, 2010 7:30 p.m.
Living an OBecian Life
I think desk jobs should be reserved for when you are an old fart, and can barely scrape your way to the desk with your walker, fueled by the single remaining open coronary artery. In the decades before that, while your arms and legs still work, before you get your rotator cuff repaired and your knees replaced, before walking up Coronado Street gives you a stroke >>> go out and CHARGE IT !— November 5, 2010 5:33 p.m.
