Black and Blue

If the cities of San Diego, Oceanside, L.A., and others stopped paying for trash service and allowed private industries to bid for the jobs, not only would they save millions, but residents could deal with private companies that appreciate them as customers, rather than an uncaring, don't bug-me-with-common sense, bureaucracy. In Encinitas, we can have a trash can or dumpster replaced once a year, by our provider EDCO, at no cost. They consider it good customer service to replace stinky or broken cans.

$3,000 for an artistically designed, exotic wood bench is a great price and a great addition to the viewing the ocean, let's just get it sponsored by Coca Cola next time, they could brand their logo into the wood?

Fat Cat Burger & BBQ

What I can't stand about most BBQ places, is the price they charge for giving a tiny bit of meat. Not at this place. Fat Cat's pulled pork sandwich was not only good, but a large portion. I'll return soon to try more. Next the San Marcos theaters, in the food court.

Yes the machines were brand new for this years fair. Counters were at zero. I watched as donuts dropped into the oil and saw the counters click each time. I couldn't believe it either. And I also did the math, but when you take into account the booth rental, fair's percentage on top of rental (that's why each booth is such a stickler for giving you a receipt, the fair demands accountability of total sales.) Also the cost of oil and batter, they use a lot, plus paying her grandkids. Is it worth 21 days straight (only 2 Monday's off) from 10AM to 10PM every day????

Krazy Kabbie

Something about this story smells like the back of a cab? Is it really possible for this guy to have witnessed the exact same thing, in the exact same area, over three months apart? I'm just asking??? Maybe it is the same cabbie and he has a magnetic number, so he can change the last digit of the cab every night? Or maybe he's a coyote and is picking up illegals coming off the beached boats. Or just maybe he's from a foreign county and doesn't read English well enough to know the Boardwalk is not a road? I pick this answer!!!!! Hang in there Barry, you'll see a lot of stuff to report about, on the Boardwalk, between 10:35 p.m. and 2:28 a.m. Looking forward to more!

This is a perfect reason why businesses like this need to own their own land. Developers don't give a crap about nostalgia. This place will be missed. If I'm not mistaken, there are only 2 more left, Escondido and Santee. I'm amazed SD still has bowling alleys and Drive In Theaters

Cardiff Seaside Market

What started as a gourmet market two decades ago has turned into the premier sandwich/prepared meal local's spot. Always a line at lunch - take a number. Sandwiches from the usual roast beef/turkey to prime rib and fresh sliced ahi tuna, or grilled veggie's. Hawaiian plates with rice are popular. The standard hamburger comes as a double patty, order the home made potato chips rather than fries. Something more for dinner? Pick from the deli - lobster, fish, fresh cooked meats. Side dishes and salads of any taste, and incredible desserts. You haven't visited Cardiff by the Sea, until you experience Seaside. Patio tables are the "center of town" where everyone hooks up with old friends.
