U-T Asks to Renegotiate Street Hawker Program

The Audit Bureau of Circulation, the firm that certifies circulation of all print media, that can then be legally quoted to advertisers, counts copies placed in the hands of real people, paid for or not. I personally have been getting the Sunday UT free for over 6 months through a UT sponsored program by one of our library's. But I understand big advertisers are getting wise to this trick to increase circulation. The only print media that has a chance are the neighborhood weeklies and publications like the Reader. Just to stay afloat, the dailies have to merge, like the L.A. Daily News, which publishes under about 10 different community names from the Long Beach Press, Pasadena Star News or the San Bernardino Sun. I think I read in one of Don B's columns that the UT was after the OC Register too.

Carlsbad Considers Ordinance to Limit RV Parking

Ave. Encinas is an RV storage yard, from Palomar Airport Rd, to Poinsettia Ln. The 72 hour laws is already on the books, it just needs to be enforced. The ban on RV beach parking is more important. Big RV's take up three or four prime, beach front parking spaces and this ordnance will do nothing to stop that.

San Diego Sheriff’s Dept. Tests Potential Patrol Cars

Because Surf Pup, Police = Power. Cops don't want to use a plain Jane 4-door that looks like a mid-size rental car. Ford miscalculated that police agencies would stay with Ford with its new Taurus Intercepter that is lighter and a V6 - thus more milage. Since when has any government cared about milage in their vehicles? If they did, every cop would be driving an Accord for 300,000 miles. I also agree with Tommy J, why mess with Chevy Caprice's? It really doesn't matter what kind of car they use, I tend to pay attention when a guy with a badge, gun, and red lights says pull over.

Its the same in the radio and TV markets. San Diego is the 7th or 8th largest city, but ranks in the high teens in market size.

Wow, this is news that should have been on every TV station in the country. Why wasn't it? Must not fit the main-stream media's narrative of all Muslims being crazy fanatics? Thanks to those that showed up for this event. Thanks to Gail for being the only reporter in the US that covered it.

Red-Light Cameras Go Nuts in Vista

Sorry SDHenry, but you are very mistaken. Any red light camera violation is a real ticket, it is sent to the registered owner of the vehicle first, as a courtesy - the "snitch" part - to give someone a chance to say it wasn't me but it was . . . If there is no response, the ticket is filed in a court against the registered owner. The court doesn't care who pays or goes to traffic school, as long as the ticket is handled. If its not taken care of, it goes to collections and the registered owner's license will be suspended. While your comments about L.A. county camera tickets maybe technically correct, but my advice after 15 years in the biz is to never screw with the court. It will catch up to you eventually. I've talked to many in my biz who it comes back to haunt them years later, now facing thousands of dollars in court fees and unable to renew their licenses, especially when one does something on the public record, like buying a house or applying for unemployment. They'll find you. Many had to hire an atty. to clear their record.
