Don't you remember Reggie Hammond in 48 Hours (Eddie Murphy). He went to jail for years just to hide thousands of dollars in his stored Porsche, so the cops would never find the money. And I spent $75 a month for 5 years to store mostly crap, which at the time, I thought was important crap.

Best Dim Sum in Town?

Thanks Babs, Can't wait to try this place. Might run down there today. Jasmine too expensive now. China Max is great but service is horrible if you don't speak the language. Once you get your order, that's it, they never return to your table to get a second coke or order more food, they always run by you never making eye contact, unless your Asian. I still wish we had some kind of Hong Kong style Asian place in North County - dim sum and roasted ducks hanging in the window.

32 years ago this weekend - John Lennon's death: Where were YOU??

I had called my pal Scott at the radio station he worked at and he sounded really down. He has the biggest Beatles record collection I've ever seen. I would say he was the biggest fan I knew. We chit chatted a little and I asked him why he was sounding so disconnected. He mumbled something about "bummed about Lennon" and it went right over my head and I went on discussing business for a few moments and I said, "what did you just say?" I had no clue what had happened. I think the universe shifts a little when these things happen, Kennedy, Elvis, Lennon, the Challenger shuttle, 9/11, Michael Jackson, those in that specific generational time are forced to grow up, to look at life a little more seriously. It doesn't change the way we conduct our daily lives but more simply gets our attention. The good things the happen in our collective lives seems to happen gradually, so while just as powerful a force, a good force, they aren't as instantaneous - the moon landing, when the Iranian hostages where freed, the 84 Olympics in L.A, the Berlin wall coming down, Padres in the World Series, all little bookmarks as our lives progress down the river of life. And while navigating that river, combine all of that with personal milestones like perhaps the birth of a first child or the death of a parent - sometimes rough waters and rocks were put there only to re-correct our course into smooth sailing. As its now 6 a.m. as I post this, I'm amazed at what I come up with when there's nothing on TV.

I Went to the Airport…to Eat!

I've wanted to go there ever since it open but assumed it was a grab-a-bite before we get to La Costa type restaurant. Now that I know they offer a lunch menu, I'll go. I really miss the old burger joint that was above a hanger before they remodeled the airport. You could almost see every part of the runway, planes landing and taking off. My kids loved it better than McDonalds. I think planners really missed a great opportunity not putting the new eatery on a 2nd level.
