Cardiff sits pretty for real estate recovery

At one time in the height of the real estate market it was substantial. Like units in 92007 sold for $25,000 - $100,000 more by having a Cardiff by the Sea postal address. That along with the residing in the boundaries of the Cardiff School District, and that a higher percentage of properties have ocean views, and the other factor indicated, means Cardiff real estate will be back on top - as in a difference between 92007 and 92024 again soon. 100% commission at Nordstrom

I wonder what the sales vs return commission rate is for workers at Wal Mart? From someone who spent the week between Christmas and New Year's doing nothing at May Co. but folding and sizing four tables of jeans on sale, I throughly enjoyed this article. It reminded me why that was my last job in retail sales decades ago. I can't imagine working at Nordstrom in Escondido. That would be as boring as trying to sell Mercedes in El Cajon.

I checked with businesses in Carmel by the Sea, including the post office. Carmel-by-the-Sea in just like Cardiff BTS with Encinitas, part of the city of Carmel. Carmel BTS has a separate zip code and only PO Box delivery, no street delivery. A Citbank employee says she thought drivers licenses just say "Carmel." But here's the kicker . . . Carmel by the Sea homes do not have addresses, even for pizza guys or emergency services. Only street names and . . . each home on that street has a . . . name!!!!! Like "Whitestone" or "Seaweed View." You have to name your home, that's how people find you!!!!! Is that cool or what?

**No More Drugs At 3:00 a.m.** For those of us that tend to shop in "off peak" hours, like rushing into VONS at 6:00 a.m. to get milk, eggs, and bread before the kids wake up, be advised, the Rite Aid pharmacy on Santa Fe Dr. is no longer open 24 hours. You can't refill your vicodin prescription at midnight anymore. But one can still buy ice cream, make up, and motor oil - all the necessities to start your day - 24 hours a day.

Here's Caltrans response: "We drove this area today and found that the on and off ramps northbound have healthy landscape, strong ice plants, and are in good condition. We also litter on a frequent basis. There is another area right at the corner of Birmingham and Villa Cardiff, this area is not our responsibility, it belongs to the City."
