**What The Hell Are These?** People keep asking me as if I know everything. I know a lot, but not this. Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of the green squares on the newly redesigned Coast Hwy. lane #2?

**Papa Toni's Closed** Popular pizza place Papa Toni's in the Seven-11 shopping center on Santa Fe @ I-5 has closed. Joe Vitale opened the place in the late 1980s. The new place will be called PIzzaiolo. No word if this will be a remodel for Joe, or a new owner.

**Lu's Gone :( :( :(** Lu's coffee cart, a fixture at the Valero station for over 20 years, has closed. When the gas station was adding the new patio at their El Pueblo taco shop, she had to close down for the construction. According to one of the Valero employees, the owners raised her lease, but she didn't really decide to close until the patio re-opened. She had complained prior that the taco shop had become so popular that her business was down and no room for parking of her customers. With the beautiful new patio, there's always a line at El Pueblo now. Lu knew all of her customers, and was kind of the "pickle barrel/pot bellied stove" place for cussin' and discussin' the issues of us Cardiff BTS residents on the east side. Anyone know if she plans to re-open somewhere? She owned the cart.

**No Good Chinese Food?** Cardiff BTS's only Asian place, Hunan Manor is closed. While their Chinese food was excellent, the location behind the Chevron station was kind of weird. Not a location you automatically think off to go out to eat. Lunch specials were reasonably priced but dinner was a little pricey. Chinese food, even good Chinese, should not be that expensive. Hunan Manor was the 2nd incarnation of a Chinese restaurant at that site, proceeded by Taco Bell, and originally and old-school style IHOP with the pitched blue roof. Now going to be a Mexican place - Casa Q'ero - with beer & wine, so probably not a taco shop type.

**Beautiful Photos** Cecelia Noel, a recently 2013 graduate form El Camino High School, shows off her winning entry in the Oceanside Photo contest. Unveiled last night (6/21) at the Oceanside LIbrary, she is one of 15 finalists selected for their special Scenes of Oceanside photo exhibit, on display now. Over 50 people submitted photos. In Cecelia's reflection shot, into the lens of sunglasses, one sees the pier and the ocean in the reflection.

**Lifeguards With Guns?** This guy and I had a little dance last Friday afternoon in the Seaside parking lot. I'm sure he was going to give me a ticket for parking next to the red cement blocks that are placed all along the beachfront. Where is one to unload momentarily? After he lectured us on the difference between red and yellow curbs, questioned our vision, and I quickly moved my car, I didn't receive a ticket. His Rambo attitude was not appreciated by the several middle-aged parents of school kids just celebrating the last day of the school year at the beach. After paying $15 to park, we expect a better attitude from those who serve the public. BTW Robocop (the most polite name given to you by several surfers and regular beach-goers) you parked your patrol truck illegally in the same red zone. Calif. Vehicle Code 22500 does not allow exemptions for peace officers parking in red zones in non-emergency situations. And your dissertation on the difference between red and yellow zones was also incorrect. Only commercially plated vehicles may park in yellow zones for the purposes of loading and unloading. Really, we need lifeguards with guns? Sounds like this was a peace officer’s union scheming-job-creating-more pensions effort to add yet another level of law enforcement. As if armed State Rangers, Sheriff’s Dept., CHP, Mira Costa College police, and the Amtrak police aren’t enough to protect and serve Cardiff residents.

**What The Hell Are These?** People keep asking me as if I know everything. I know a lot, but not this. Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of the green squares on the newly redesigned Coast Hwy. lane #2? http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jul/0…— July 6, 2013 5:56 p.m.

**Papa Toni's Closed** Popular pizza place Papa Toni's in the Seven-11 shopping center on Santa Fe @ I-5 has closed. Joe Vitale opened the place in the late 1980s. The new place will be called PIzzaiolo. No word if this will be a remodel for Joe, or a new owner. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/j…— June 22, 2013 2:47 p.m.

She owned the cart. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/2…— June 22, 2013 2:43 p.m.

Now going to be a Mexican place - Casa Q'ero - with beer & wine, so probably not a taco shop type. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/2…— June 22, 2013 2:34 p.m.

In Cecelia's reflection shot, into the lens of sunglasses, one sees the pier and the ocean in the reflection. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/2…— June 22, 2013 2:14 p.m.

As if armed State Rangers, Sheriff’s Dept., CHP, Mira Costa College police, and the Amtrak police aren’t enough to protect and serve Cardiff residents. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/2…— June 21, 2013 7:32 a.m.
