Red light camera enforcement arrested
Sorry Mayor Sam, its always been about the money. If not the money made by cities, then the money it costs its angry citizens when they get a $600 ticket (after fines, fees, and traffic school.) It always about the money. Only when the city starts to lose money, it costs more to have them than not, does a municipality address the issue, as Escondido did, preceded by L.A., Fullerton, San Diego, and San Juan Capistrano. They lost money, and shut down their programs. Facts are most red light tickets were not for running through red light intersections, but for making a right turn and not coming to a complete stop at a light, far different than the death and doom these cameras were supposed to prevent.

Death of pregnant teen is charged as double murder
Eva, how do you take photos in court? Seems like I can't even hold my phone without being noticed. You're the best court reporter around. Keep it up, even though you have to sit through hours of boring testimony to get one good story.

Cheap art in L.A.
Hey Dave, If you take Amtrak to Palm Springs it will drop you off miles away in the desert. The station is a slab of concrete in the middle of nowhere. Enjoy your articles. I used to collect royalties for you as a rep. for ASCAP.

Wells Fargo sells credit card terminal to Oceanside swap meet seller
Great story Don, Thank you for bringing the continued abuses of Wells Fargo to light. WF does not care about its small customers, its volume only. They could lose 25% of there small customers (like me - deposits less than $1 mil) and still make money. Next to BofA, they are the most hated bank by consumers, and yet we ( I ) continue since 1996.

Destination Lindbergh; destruction Old Town
Lindbergh will never move. Nor should it. It is centrally located to all population centers in the county - around 30 minutes from 2 million people. We have the most visitor convenient airport of any major city. Where else can you be at the beach, convention center, downtown, zoo, or the Chicken Pie Shop in less than 15 minutes after getting your rental car. Denver's is 40 miles from downtown, DTW, KCI, - same thing - way out in the middle of some hay field. Even LAX isn't located anyway near where passengers want to end up. Tourist/family/vacation travelers is what's fueling the industry now. Let s not inconvenience grandma by having her have to walk a mile, take a shuttle 20 minutes, to some socially engineered transit center concept, just to hug her grandkids. Huge bucks also follow the conventioneers that like the closeness of everything. When the next NY mayor comes into town and wants to hook up with his knoodling pal Bobby Filner, they need to be cruising the streets for chicks ASAP. Lindbergh is here to stay, so fasten your seat belt and wave to the people in the office towers as we prepare to land in - actually in - America's Finest City.

**Anyone Remember Fallbrook's KAVO FM 107?** I mention the old KAVO in a recent story. [

Stalled thunderstorms over Mt. Laguna
I just remembered, there was some way that in the event of a real emergency KOGO could take over our transmitter, or we'd patch into to their emergency broadcast. Or we'd have to stop all programing and simply say something about a declared emergency over our airwaves and advise listeners to tune into KOGO. I also believe that the 600 frequency was reserved by the FCC and assigned only to those stations across the country that were considered "honkers" - a station that had a full power - 50,000 watts day and night. In the old days one could hear KFMB from La Paz,MEX to Alaska. KFI AM 640 (L.A.) went all the way to the western slope of the Rockies. Wattages are now reduced and towers are directional as to not interfear with other stations on nearby frequencies, and to allow more new station assignments. Although no one is applying for AM frequencies anymore other than government agencies for "low powered" advisory radio on the 500 & 1600 frequencies.

Follow the Money Less than two weeks after an I-5 crash damaged a section of the freeway's fence [
http://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2013/jul/12/st…
] CalTrans was back to repair it. Pretty quick service? Nope. The state had the driver's insurance company to bill. One has to wonder how long it would have taken to repair if the fence had just fallen down? To Caltrans' credit, while on site, they did fix two other spots on the fence that had needed minor repairs for many months.

Facts are most red light tickets were not for running through red light intersections, but for making a right turn and not coming to a complete stop at a light, far different than the death and doom these cameras were supposed to prevent.— August 26, 2013 4:11 p.m.
Death of pregnant teen is charged as double murder
Eva, how do you take photos in court? Seems like I can't even hold my phone without being noticed. You're the best court reporter around. Keep it up, even though you have to sit through hours of boring testimony to get one good story.— August 24, 2013 7:07 a.m.
City will indemnify resigning Filner, with some hedges

Cheap art in L.A.
Hey Dave, If you take Amtrak to Palm Springs it will drop you off miles away in the desert. The station is a slab of concrete in the middle of nowhere. Enjoy your articles. I used to collect royalties for you as a rep. for ASCAP.— August 4, 2013 5:24 a.m.
Next to BofA, they are the most hated bank by consumers, and yet we ( I ) continue since 1996.— August 3, 2013 6:16 a.m.
Lindbergh is here to stay, so fasten your seat belt and wave to the people in the office towers as we prepare to land in - actually in - America's Finest City.— July 26, 2013 9:29 a.m.

**Anyone Remember Fallbrook's KAVO FM 107?** I mention the old KAVO in a recent story. [http://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2013/jul/22/st…] [1]: http://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2013/jul/22/st…— July 25, 2013 9:29 p.m.
Although no one is applying for AM frequencies anymore other than government agencies for "low powered" advisory radio on the 500 & 1600 frequencies.— July 25, 2013 9:27 p.m.

Follow the Money Less than two weeks after an I-5 crash damaged a section of the freeway's fence [http://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2013/jul/12/st…] CalTrans was back to repair it. Pretty quick service? Nope. The state had the driver's insurance company to bill. One has to wonder how long it would have taken to repair if the fence had just fallen down? To Caltrans' credit, while on site, they did fix two other spots on the fence that had needed minor repairs for many months.— July 25, 2013 7:02 a.m.
