Cardiff is the new Del Mar? Says who?

Great comparison article Candice. As a native Cardiffian and former community leader, we always held Del Mar up as the standard of what we wanted our town to be like. That's why we pushed for incorporation because the county planners couldn't give crap about "community identity." Now we're the dream of other beachside towns. We used to tell folks we lived in Cardiff by the Sea and receive a "Where?" response. Now they say "Oh wow!" One OC friend, upon his first visit to our house in the 1970s, immediately called his mom who had grown up in Manhattans Beach and excitedly told her Cardiff was a "funky junky beach town" and she would love it down her. I was embarrassed our town was described that way. Over the decades we used to have to drive north to do stuff with friends in OC and LA. Now they beg to come down for visits. We became cool and didn't know it. Thanks for reminding us of that. How about writing a comparison article on Oceanside vs. Carlsbad? Now there's a day and night comparison for you.

In N Out breaks all the rules. They are so far superior above the rest of any chains, that they don't count for fast food, calorie counting, vegetarians, no carbs, all rules are off for In N Out.

I agree. My one and only stop at Wing Stop I was not impressed. The real wings with bones in them were small and meatless. Those is Kearny-ville should try Ranch 88 or Jasmine's food to go wings. Or any Asian buffet's wings. Much better. Even Albertsons has good wings - if 4 different flavors. I always wonder what happens to the rest of the chicken? If we're eating millions of wings, we're not eating millions of thighs, legs, and breast. 2 wings leaving 6 other pieces????

Listen to this article! Do not attempt with non-4WD vehicles past 2nd stream bed, even if no water. Very soft sand. I stuck follow others and if it wasn't for a jeep with a heavy wench, I'd have paid a tow truck guy $300 to come get me out. it was night and we missed the "4WD Only" sign.

Scandia Motel sits nearly vacant

I saw that too. You'll notice that in the descriptive text, it never mentions the city. I believe this was a demo site perhaps made to show the owners of the Scandia what could be done. Was never used, nor taken down. The funny thing is, locally-based visitCarlsbad.com picked up this craziness for their listing of the Scandia Motel, in their own town.
