Fake Uber driver outed

You are correct Alex, he's done everything right, incorporated the name Uberelite, State of Calif approved his name, etc. The only thing that will put him out of biz is he uses the Uber logo on his car, and the "Uber" name in big bold letters on the side of his car, where it used to read Uber Cab (pictures on Facebook)

After 130 years, Daily Transcript going dark

Last time I saw a Transcript it was all legal ads and public notices for contractor bids. Little news. Too bad though, you'd think the L.A. Times would have bought it? They could have, "continued to serve the community by combining resources."

Supermarket slump?

I was shocked sorta to walk into the quaint little former Albertson's on Carlsbad Village Dr. (Originally a Mayfair Market, then Big Bear) and see the Haggans change nothing but signage. The fruits and vegetables area was exactly the same, and the store kept the old fashioned rounded, rotating check out isles.

Supermarket slump?

This was obvious to anyone that lives in SoCal. Our grocery stores are personal; their names, location, layout of the isles, prices, products carried. The big four grocery stores have to compete with Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Sprouts. Haggen thought it would waltz right in, triple its chain's locations, and sell to a new market that it knew nothing about. This one bad move could end up killing the whole company.

He's got horsinality

A horsey-type reader advised that American Pharaoh is not simply a chestnut brown horse. His coloring, "is called "bay" and that horse is unusual because he does not seem to have a single spec of white anywhere, not on his legs nor face nor anywhere. (Bay is a reddish or brown body color with black mane and tail and black "points" which are the legs and edges of the ears and around the nostrils." I'll call him any color as long as my $2.80 comes in on my $2.00 show bet. Seriously, this animal was the most special animal I had ever seen. And I live with two unconditional lovers - Lassie look-a-likes. Am. Ph. was filled with something. The spirit of God? World Peace? Unconditional Love? I thought, last year when Cal. Chrome walked into the paddock with hundreds cheering him, and he knew it, and showed it, that this was the horse of my lifetime. Until I met Am. As of 7/13 @ 4:00 p.m., the 76 in Coronado is now the 5th highest priced station in California. The highest? The station in Avalon on Catalina Island @ $7.04/gal.

Expect a gas-price hike of at least 30¢

Exactly correct, the wholesale prices was stable or dropping, a barrel of oil is stable or dropping, no one can explain why with a simple report release, of information known to all the oil companies for months, that Calif.'s refiners stored gas inventory has been reduced over the last few months, wholesalers went nut-so 48 hours ago, especially Chevron and Shell. I saw a lot of $4.00+ gas today as I was driving around using up my $3.50/gal gas.
