Horne Prudence wanted to be Julia Child of art on TV
I absolutely LOVED your story. All the way through, I was hoping for that happy ending. You have a marvelous idea. But, like in the musical, "Gypsy," you have to have a gimmick in today's market. If you could parlay your show into something with an unconventional twist, you just might land a pilot. Remember, "The Help" was rejected something like 60 times before it was published. Be persistent and don't give up. I am thrilled that the Reader opted to publish your story. Good luck to you! I don't think I speak only for myself when I say we wish you the best!— January 13, 2012 9:49 a.m.

Thanks, Nannercakes! It IS interesting living here--I must say.— January 7, 2012 7:43 a.m.
Death Valley Dancer: The Legend of Marta Becket
Inspiring! I did some investigating regarding unearthed murals at San Diego State. Dr. Seth Mallios there has done extensive work and research on them; and there was an excellent article in SDSU's, "The 360 Magazine" beautifully written by Coleen Geraghty on the subject. Dr. Mallios is also doing research on musicians from the 1960s (like Buffalo Springfield) who actually performed on campus. He sent out a request for anyone with artifacts of that era (such as posters or tickets to shows) to contact him. I know he received quite a few. Keep up the good work! Your posts are not only interesting to read, but very informative!— January 6, 2012 3:06 p.m.

Thanks, Quill. I seem to remember a line from "Sex and the City" (the TV show, not the movie), that went something like, "Squirrels are just rats in cuter outfits." We'll just pretend you have a cuter outfit in the closet! San Francisco will always remain a large part of my misspent youth...— January 1, 2012 4:43 p.m.
