Marking a Milestone
I cried and laughed at the same time. This is wonderful, wonderful, WONDERFUL! Being a daddy's girl myself, it is nice to know there are other women in the world who think their dads "walk on water." Pat— May 27, 2009 2:04 p.m.

Refried, Glad you enjoyed my nonsense. No, I haven't made my way to the TJ treasures...yet! Thanks for the lead. It is nice to know fresh territory awaits my discovery.— May 21, 2009 9:16 a.m.

Not So Swedish
"We invited Urs and Gudrun to visit us in San Diego, but the politically minded pair had vowed not to return to the States until Bush was out of office. The moment Obama’s victory was declared, they booked their tickets." Hahahaha!!!!!! I LOVE this line AND these people! Great story! Pat— May 6, 2009 3:22 p.m.
San Diego's Superhero is sick of the crime
Great story!! I was captivated from the first sentence all the way to the end! WOW!— April 16, 2009 1:07 p.m.
Junk Talk
This reminds me... My father used to sing Caruso's "Te Voglio Bene" on the front steps of our New Jersey home very loud. Only, instead of the real lyrics, he substituted the raunchiest Italian lyrics you could imagine. It was a non-Italian neighborhood, so no one understood the words. One day my friend said, "I didn't know your father sang Opera." To which I answered, "He tries, but I don't think the lyrics are correct."— April 16, 2009 1:05 p.m.
Happy Tummy
I was a vegetarian for four years. During those four years I paid a visit to my very Italian family in Jersey. At a gathering of the relatives, I was treated as if I had lost my intestines, stomach and mind. After the gathering, they all went to the nearby Catholic church to light candles and pray for my recovery. Pat— April 9, 2009 7:51 a.m.
After they shot Juan Soldado in 1938
What a wonderful story. I was riveted right to the end. Although my family is Italian, they have many of the same beliefs in spirits (My aunt, Alvira, used to communicate with them!) This article has sparked my interest to such a point that I think I will spend some time at the library finding out more about Tijuana history, Juan and the era in which he lived. Thank you for writing this. Pat— January 9, 2009 12:01 p.m.
