"There are generally two weddings in Mexico: the legal contractual binding done at the Registro Civil, and the religious or ceremonial wedding that is for show and not legally binding." and yet, for the most part, socially, the religious ceremony is honored more than the legal contract.— May 18, 2011 10:12 a.m.
Kids Are Loud
so true! or kids whose parents choose to be hard of hearing.— May 17, 2011 11:29 a.m.
Water for Elephants
mindy, did you really not consider that the movie involves circus animals in the early part of the 20th century? that's not exactly my idea of the start of animals rights activism. and here's to hoping you asked for and received a refund.— May 12, 2011 11:38 a.m.
The Tsunami That Never Came
the only way san diego will really ever get a tsunami to wash up on shore--and not simply the receding waterline--will be after an earthquake in Alaska or on the West Coast of the US... Otherwise, it won't happen. i remember after the Chile earthquake, we had the tsunami watch. And i found myself at Loma (pt loma) with family. talk about a low tide! i could see the oceanfloor from main parts of campus (which is usually always covered by water).— May 12, 2011 11:30 a.m.
Everything Must Go!
oy... there's a reason i don't go into bookstores. I walked into the barnes and noble in hazard a few weeks ago and an hour later left with 4 books and 80 dollars more in debt. :/ even so, i won't do e-books. never have, never will. like with movies or shoes, there's something downright transcendental about holding a book in one's hands and being transported into the middle of a story.— May 11, 2011 2:12 p.m.
2011 Gator By the Bay: Qvandeyz's Secret Beignet Recipe
OHMYGOSH!OHMYGOSH!OHMYGOSH! YES! I'd never even heard of beignets until Saturday at Gator by the Bay. And the a la mode one I shared was to die for! literally. Since I have decided to perfect the pastry, the recipe will most definitely come in handy. :) This just made my day. :)~— May 10, 2011 10:58 a.m.
Truck Blocks Traffic on Midway Drive
I think the streets are a bit off... The Midway post office is at least a block away from the Rosecrans/Midway intersection... There's a strip mall on that intersection and then the p/office.— May 9, 2011 9:19 a.m.
Where were you when????
and the birthers become the deathers.— May 5, 2011 9:48 a.m.
None
which idiot? Mencken or Andre Talley? And i HIGHLY doubt that any 'banditos' read vogue or follow America's Next Top Models. (unless they do for the models?)— May 4, 2011 2:30 p.m.
I live in Tijuana, Smugglersville
i loved the story when you first posted, rangel. and i love it even more now! There are pictures! (and love as much as one can 'love' such a sad story. I hope you are well after your surgery and that you've recuperated fully.— May 4, 2011 2 p.m.
