Thanks, Cuddle. But it certainly wasn't just me. It "took a village," so to speak. From Victoria's flyers on Banker's Hill, to SD's blog here on the net, to my emails from the San Francisco area which went: 1. To MaryAnne, who now lives in BOSTON (same city Victoria and Jessie were FROM) but still handles that particular SD cat rescue's online email after moving from there, to... 2. The local intake person for the cats in SD, to... 3. A 3rd person (I don't know who this one was) to... 4. Lyn, the lady who had Jessie in foster care, preparing her for adoption. Jessie and Victoria were reunited in a little under 24 hours after the emails went out. Cat Ladies ROCK the Net! :D THIS is what the internet is for, in my opinion, and what I hope folks take away from the story. It's the most important technological advance of our generation, and the most powerful and far-reaching instantaneous communication tool ever invented. It's not for porn, it's not for exploiting other people for as much money as you can con them out of, and it's not for slinging s*** at our fellow humans on message boards. I don't care WHAT it is you've lost and/or are looking for, somebody out there -- somebody who can be reached via the internet -- can help you find it. Maybe not the first person you reach, but somebody they know, or somebody They know, or somebody THEY know. Get that ball rolling toward your solution person. There probably aren't as many degrees of separation between you and them as you think! Ya just gotta shake enough trees, and whether it's apples or Abyssinians, there's a good chance something will fall out eventually. :)— March 13, 2010 5:47 p.m.
