Update: Beautiful Jessie has come home! And: What we learned about lost/found animals
All right, I just discovered a dandy new thingy to help keep track of pets (especially cats). It has a range of 600 feet, which is pretty good. A lot of times, a lost cat is really very nearby, sometimes trapped in a neighbor's garage, shed, under a house, etc. With SD's indulgence, I'm going to park the link here. http://www.loc8tor.com/Store/product/Loc8tor-Pet,… A hundred bucks, but might be well worth it.— April 27, 2010 7:08 p.m.
Developers Bankrolling "Strong Mayor" Campaign
Developers Bankrolling "Strong Mayor" Campaign... ...because when there's one dude in charge, ya only gots one dude to buy. THE END :)— April 27, 2010 5:18 p.m.
Happy Pill
"NEVER mix artane, haldol, stelazine, and alcohol in more than modest quantities. At least, not before 8 AM and not until one has had a good hearty breakfast." Sounds like solid advice ta me. :)— April 26, 2010 7:32 p.m.
Two poems by Nicanor Parra
"Grant and I are talkin' strictly ideas here, and I feel the "single seed" carries more truth for me right now --like a palm seed." Or a mustard seed? Or two sides of the same coin? Or two different ends of the telescope, perhaps... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEJ6jjRBv8U&featur… (I KNEW I could count on my friend UnAsleep for a reference to the "universe in a grain of sand.) On the other hand... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-djY6xnHUs&featur… :)— April 26, 2010 7:21 p.m.
Two poems by Nicanor Parra
MmmmmMMM! He's good, isn't he? :) Agreed about the desert, long favored both physically and metaphorically as a place of introspection and creative fruition. Puts me in mind of this, from perhaps my favorite rock album ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrPDwLJR_NE&featur… The last stanza... "And this word which I poise here suspended from a branch, this song that yearns solely for the solitude of your lips to repeat it— the air inscribes it at my side, lives that were lived long before me. And you, who are reading my ode: you’ve used it against your own solitude. We’ve never met, and yet it’s your hands that wrote these lines, with mine..." ...evokes the memory of the 3rd line from Uncle Walt's most famous work (and probably others as well, but none spring to mind as easily): "For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you." Gorgeous expressions of Unity Consciousness. No better subject for poetry, IMO. YMMV. :)— April 26, 2010 10:20 a.m.
Tundra # 15
"Expecting Portia to hang her head in submission and mutter an apology after the threat, these women were always surprised when a split second later they found themselves flat on their backs, blinking in astonishment at the lights on the ceiling or the moon in the sky, and spitting out mouthfuls of blood through swelling lips." Heeheehee. Fuller lips, no collagen required, no charge. You're welcome. :) Ditto Cuddle on your roomie story, Grantie. Cough it up.— April 25, 2010 10:16 p.m.
A Tomb With a View
Aw, Grantie. Wish I could offer a little ray of sunshine here, but I'm just not the one for that, not on this subject. Nicely written, though. :)— April 25, 2010 9:58 p.m.

"A few weeks ago, I was making my way to an OB alley sale when I nearly ran over a little old lady, who darted in front of my truck. She had tightly permed, blue hair with a pink scalp showing through the curls. She wore a polyester, pink and blue floral-print track suit. Her frail body resembled a question mark, as she balanced herself between a cane and a shopping cart, which contained, among other things, a bong." Priceless. I was hoping to God you were going to stalk her and snatch that blouse when the old bat wasn't looking. YOU SNOOZE, YOU LOSE, GRANDMA!!! *cackles maniacally and burns rubber* "At the final sale of the day, there was a box of these adult videos being fondled by the usual group of aficionados." The visual imagery here of a batch of middle aged greasy, hygienically challenged pervs is equally priceless. Are there really "high end," hooty-snooty porn critics, I wonder? Ridiculously pretentious ones who supposedly like porn, but hate 99% of it? Critics who rate things in cup sizes, perhaps? (Yeah, there are other things they could use, but I'll restrain myself. And no bondage jokes about restraining myself. Yes, I know there are films about that, too.) Love the pic. Worth 1000 words, at least. :)— April 21, 2010 6:55 p.m.
Got the Bike Ready for The Century!!
Heeeeeeeeeere I come to save the... Um, what was I going to do? http://img.youtube.com/vi/GYpBoYa4pno/0.jpg :)— April 21, 2010 6:39 p.m.
Happy Pill
"Children are creepy." LOL! Agreed. "I told him I needed some time to think (i.e., obsess) about it." Always an important part of the process. :) It'll be interesting to read an update from you as your meds kick in. They 'can' make you feel unlike yourself, based on my limited experiences with Ritalin and Lexapro. I actually felt like they made me a bit dull and unable to make the usual creative connections that my mind (ab)normally makes. Your David's a keeper. And he's right. If you don't like it, just quit. Or try another one. Thanks to Big Pharma, there's almost no limit to the selection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiSQAz3VzNg— April 21, 2010 3:57 p.m.
