Re #15:
It's all 3 of the county shelters, Robbie. The northernmost one is in Carlsbad.

Some of the cats we've really been pulling for are Dana, Mr. Miso, Miss Swan, Connie, Gretchen, and Maggie. Both I and a volunteer shelter worker up there named Amber have posted Craigslist ads for these particular cats.
The venerable Mr. Miso is the oldest cat at the shelter, at 12. He's been there quite a long time. He's got kind of a "Charlie Chan" thing going, don't you think? :)

Dana, on the other hand is much younger at 4, and is a beautiful little Burmese. You can tell by her low ID# that it's her second trip through the shelter, which sucks. I 'think' Amber might've said that her owner died. Not sure.

It appears to be Maggie's second trip through as well. Also, ANY black cat is going to have a hard time getting adopted.
You know, you ARE allowed to take 2 of them for free, Robbie. They're always better in pairs. :)

Puppy, like it says, puppies age 5 & over are FREE right now! I'm curious where you managed to pay $120 for a senior dog. The regular fee for senior dogs at SD County Shelters is only $35.— June 12, 2010 5:22 p.m.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Heehee. Hey, I saw an opportunity to post it in one of Duncan's dealios, and I took it. Still trying to figure out how to work it into Jerry Schad's "Outdoors San Diego" column. I don't think Bauder's been hit yet, either. I'm sure he'll dig it big time. It's kinda like graffiti, but better. Don't you agree? :)— June 10, 2010 6:39 p.m.

The Truth about the Dogs You See In Pet Stores
Agreed. I spend a lot of time on the Craigslist pets section, where breeder sales are not allowed. SO many pets being given away by their owners -- sometimes for legitimate reasons, but mostly not. Give a loyal, betrayed pet a home. On that note, I'm hoping that if his owner doesn't show up and he goes into adoptable status here in the next few days, someone wonderful will take THIS dog: http://sddac.com/LostandFound/photos/A1353823.jpg I was found in zip code 91901. I'm a male TAN SHEPHERD/BLEND. I'm in the South shelter. I entered the shelter on 5/28/2010. My ID number is A1353823, My necktag number is S457, and My kennel number is S069. I can't begin to explain the effect this pooch's face has on me, for some reason. He just seems really magical. Makes me wish I was there in SD, in a house, with a yard. He'd be in it. And I'm not even a "dog person."— June 4, 2010 7:44 p.m.
