Alliant University leaves Sweetwater school district property in National City…sets up at Southwestern College?

Out of respect for the 'reported' grave condition Mr. McCann was reported to be in I along with many in the South Bay publicly sent well wishes and silent prayers for his recovery. Alas, I am confused. For over a week we were hearing he was in need of special treatment and that the healing process could take up to a year. His memory had been affected in a head injury. Last week we heard he had left the hospital and was in a special facility. Then today we are bombarded with news coverage of McCann leaving the 'hospital'. I believe the photo coverage provided, in pictures, shows the facts. I had not seen the coverage until a neighbor questioned 'what is the real skinny on Mc Cann'? I advised him he is in a special care facility from what was reported last week. REALLY?, WELL ANNIE YOU HAVE OBVIOUSLY NOT SEEN HIS NEW PHOTO SHOOT - he asked me to come over while he replayed the story. I believe the video of McCann walking out, on his own, shaking hands with hospital personnel SAYS IT ALL. But perhaps those folks were from the billing dept. reaching for a paid in full check and we just thought they were looking to shake his hand. Hopefully the rest has allowed Mr. McCann the opportunity to come to the realization that Brand has done little to restore SUHSD's reputation or McCann's - it was after all Brand who threw McCann under the bus by testifying about McCann asking Brand to go to a contractor and ask for money for McCann. McCann left the hospital today and walked right into the hornets nest of the Alliant deal, as it was McCann who attended the agreement signing along with the Mayor of National City. Is there any hope that McCann will choose to do the right thing - lead the effort to remove Brand? That would be a saving grace.

dbdriver - I agree a bit curious. Many are speculating that McCann believed it would bode well for his rumored bid for new political office in Chula. Picture of him signing agreement for 4 year university. Question is, do a few offices and fewer classrooms in an Adult Ed building in National City paint a true picture of a 4 year university for our community? Especially when, from the very beginning, Ed Brand and certain members of the board 'danced' around the lack of transparency allegations. Mr. McCann sat on Chulas city council, surely he is more than educated on the fact that such issues as permits MUST go before the National City Planning commission prior to the deal being signed. Why wasn't board president Cartmill or vp Ricasa in attendance for the signing? I guess in retrospect it is good for them that they were not. And now, what about these classes being offered to 11th and 12th graders? Funny, NO MENTION of that on the SUHSD/Alliant 'dance card'. No mention of that at board meetings - WHY???????????? Mr. Cartmill the community is looking to you, as president of the board, to answer to these concerns. Administrators and staff contacting students and parents regarding Alliant on our dime, WHY?????? Perhaps if Brand allowed District staff to do what our tax dollars LEGALLY allow them to do we would not be reading comments regarding the ACLU allegedly looking into our ELL students being denied what they rightfully deserve.
