FACTS: FEEL FREE TO ADD TO THE LIST We have a $10 million deficit We are using $10 million worth of tax dollars to purchase a new District office on the east side and then pouring in another $8 million for upgrades The majority of our schools are in Program Improvement There is massive overcrowding at east side schools while west side school numbers are on the decline. Teachers are prepared to strike Class sizes are growing More and more consultants are being hired A CFO the community trusted was fired We continue to pay the note on L street, land we do NOT own We are buying IPADS yet we do not have the ban width to support them The truth regarding our fire alarms was hidden from us Attempts are being made by Ed Brand to intimidate community members via calls to employers and PI's Certain campuses i.e. Bonita High are falling apart A community member alleges that Ed Brand is speaking untruths about the CPM charter Our public school tax dollars are being used to pay Brands pet charter expenses L street and Prop O are being audited by the IRS NOW, - tell me again why we are paying Ed Brand $250k plus benefits?????????????????????????— January 19, 2014 6:16 p.m.

oskidoll - desperate times, call for desperate measures. I would be willing to define 'teaching to the rule' as desperate. I would be willing to define the disrespect shown our teachers as desperate. Shining a spotlight on the dysfunction - if a few more community members saw the protest and began to research the issues, learn of the trials/corruption, understand the fact that the man behind the beautiful home and gracious wife is NOT what they thought he was then it was in fact, a good strategic move. Think outside the box - more spotlights, more innovative ideas that will expose the truth about what our board and superintendent are doing is definitely NEEDED!!!!— January 19, 2014 10:31 a.m.

We are facing a total melt down of our District - board members in the midst of court proceedings, one stepped down - more to follow? and what does Ed Brand do he leaves for vacation and allegedly leaves word with is staff he is not to be bothered. Is he due a vacation? Yes. However one would think IF he had the best interest of our students and the community at heart he would not have left until the board vacancy had been settled. Ms. Quinones could very well have been skyped into Tuesday nights meeting - why wasn't she? It would have taken all but 20 minutes. In my opinion Brand had this whole thing planned. Cartmill was to go along with Lopez while McCann was to call for the special election. Then three (3) days later Brand would allegedly get on a plane to Hawaii. Are you feeling hoodwinked? Mr. McCann has everything to win and everything to loose. IF he were a smart man he would urge Cartmill to call a special meeting and vote for the appointment. They do not need Ed Brand. The voters are NOT happy with the games being played. Next time there is a picket line, let the community know and we will ALL turnout. At their homes, at their businesses, wherever attention can be brought to this serious situation. Let the students know as well.— January 18, 2014 9:47 p.m.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT - I just had a conversation with a person who can not post. This person reminded me that The San Ysidro issued APPEARED to be over. The deals had been made. Now we hear that the FBI is involved - is the FBI involved behind the scenes at SUHSD? What other wires may have been worn by those Brand, Cartmill, Ricasa or McCann trusted, what other small conversation that leaked serious issues might have been taped?— January 18, 2014 10:31 a.m.

Bvavsvav - Brand has money for what HE wants When will WE the public be advised of the future of our vacant board seat, why are we being left out of the process, Brand is making us sit and wait. erupting - Grossman running? The one page fliers detailing his comments are ready to go to press, anyone own a crop duster for a fly over of the South Bay? Our community needs a NEW board member that is of the highest caliber, a person with NO ties to Ed Brand or Jim Cartmill. FBI agents crawling all over this area regarding Paul - contractor is said to have worn a wire that has Paul dead to rights. Community members have met with IRS regarding SUHSD in the past - wonder if they are seeing any similarities? Wondering if any others are wearing wires? Hmmmmmmm— January 17, 2014 12:21 p.m.

bvasvasva - think I got that right. It is indeed a sad day when members of our community have to read a disclaimer before offering public or agenda comment at a freakin' school board meeting. Folks, Ed Brand allegedly had the gall to phone a community members employer when she dared to recommend that our District 'study' using the 'Cloud'. How many employers have been contacted by Ed Brand? What was President Cartmills response to the perceived intimidation? - we are still waiting for OUR ELECTED representative(s) to advise HIS (our) employee to cease these types of actions.— January 16, 2014 7:19 p.m.

JOHN MCCANN's REPORT CARD - If one clicks on the link in the article pertaining to John McCann's 2010 campaign one will find a list of promises made to our community. Allow me to play teacher and grade Mr. McCann's efforts. Mr. McCann: Will bring independent leadership F. Mr. McCann has demonstrated NO independent leadership or thinking. He does what Ed Brand tells him to do. Stands for Academic Excellence F. There are more schools under Program Improvement now then there were prior to his election. Stands for Safe Schools C. There are schools like Bonita Vista High that are literally falling apart. Bonita students speak of hearing rats within the walls. The campus is an embarrassment to the educational efforts of teachers, Counselors, Administrators, and other employees. Mar Vista sat, since June of 2913, with damaged HVAC. Stands for Fiscal Responsibility F- Mr. McCann has used our tax dollars for frivolous personal legal efforts and Monday evening voted to call for a special election to fill Ricasa's seat at the tune of 1.5 million for 4 months. He also allowed 'the gandara' to walk away with and receive certain benefits due to the delayed termination date. John McCann will serve F. He has not served the students or taxpayers in the manner in which he promised. ******* just my opinion— January 16, 2014 5:20 p.m.
