Car theft thwarted by Stronghold Jiu Jitsu teacher and students
Obviously he didn't learn his lesson after being arrested several times before. No probation this time!— April 29, 2019 8:26 p.m.
Dems pass retroactive bill to block recall of state senator Newman
Signature gatherers are paid employees of companies that do this as a business. These companies are usually hired by the Republicans since their causes are not popular and can't get volunteers to do the work. This is definitely the case here with Carl DeMaio and the hatchet job he's doing for the Republicans. Signature gatherers are typically aggressive and intimidating since they get paid per signature they collect. I hope we learn who is paying for this.— June 23, 2017 1:03 p.m.
SoccerCity friend Dene Oliver provides Pt. Loma house for Faulconer chief of staff's wedding
More corruption involving San Diego city council members and the mayor. Standard behavior over the last few decades when it comes to politicians backed by real estate developers.— May 16, 2017 5:36 p.m.
Bridgepoint VP goes to work for DeVos
We are witnessing the wholesale destruction of the very fabric of America by Trump and his gang of corporate criminals. There is nothing honorable or decent about any of these people or what they are doing. We must do everything we can to resist Trump, and refuse to accept what he is doing.— March 19, 2017 11 a.m.
The trade war that could wallop San Diego
Everyone is giving Trump far more credit for actually doing any work. Trump is salesman-in-chief who is just signing the documents being created by Steve Bannon, etc. The only thing Trump has been doing himself is spewing rhetoric to distract the American public from the horrible things his cabinet and congress have been doing. Our country is being dismantled from within for the benefit of the corporations and special interests that are part of the emerging kleptocracy, at the expense of everyone else. Meanwhile, we have seen no meaningful job creation legislation from the White House.— March 16, 2017 2:06 p.m.
Longtime trailer park in Bay Park to close
Why is it that David Potter is the only one ever interviewed from the community? The local residents have consistently disagreed with him and said that he does not represent their opinions. Let's hear from the community leaders when interviewing the residents.— March 14, 2017 1:44 p.m.
Secrecy shrouds Faulconer’s SoccerCity favors
This whole affair appears to be an obvious case of favoritism and corruption. I can understand that developers need to have information to create the best proposal for the Qualcomm site. But all activities should be done with a public record available so that the taxpayers know that the process is fair and the deals made are in the best interests of San Diego. Another possible explanation for the secrecy is that secret deals exists that Faulconer doesn't want made public. FS Investors seems to know that there are contracts and leases that are not publicly recorded. I wonder if there are some political bombshells he's hiding. As mentioned, Liberty Station is a good example of how bad a deal this could turn into. Developers getting rich and San Diegians getting robbed.— March 12, 2017 12:57 p.m.
Congressman Issa missed at town-hall meeting
"If you don't have the guts to face your constituents, then you shouldn't be in the United States Congress" http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/…— February 25, 2017 8:56 a.m.
Congressman Issa missed at town-hall meeting
Darrell Issa is a coward and can't face his constituency. He knows that most of the people in his district don't agree with his position on abolishing the ACA and many of his other views. He was very lucky to win re-election this year, but it's very unlikely he will ever win an election again.— February 25, 2017 8:29 a.m.
Dalai Lama causes a stir at UCSD
When the Dali Lama speaks, he very rarely makes political statements. His message is entirely about compassion and how to transform ourselves into better human beings. It's true that he is the exiled leader of Tibet but he has effectively renounced that role and is now entirely a spiritual leader. The Chinese student(s) that is objecting to him being the commencement speaker is not representing the vast number of students that are very happy and excited for a chance to hear the Dali Lama in person. The Chinese student has a right (while in the US) to voice his opposition to the Dali Lama but the majority of other students support the Dali Lama and his message, and want him to be the commencement speaker. It's a rare opportunity that should not be missed!— February 20, 2017 12:02 p.m.
